Polarized Color Filters Using Colloidal Quantum Rod Nanocrystals for Advanced High‐Performance Displays

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This groundbreaking research has advanced the utilization of quantum rods (QRs) for the emission of linearly polarized light, resulting in exceptional color saturation and enhanced display efficiency. The developed filter demonstrates a polarization degree of up to 0.67 and an impressive ambient contrast ratio (ACR) of 263:1, setting the stage for ...

Enabling modernisation, marginalising alternatives? Kenya's agricultural policy and smallholders

open access: yesJournal of International Development, Volume 35, Issue 1, Page 3-20, January 2023., 2023
Abstract To address intensifying social and environmental challenges, development policy must learn from inclusions and exclusions of past discourses. We analyse Kenya's post‐colonial agricultural policy discourse. Our analysis reveals a near‐exclusive focus on the promotion of agricultural modernisation based on industrial farm inputs, a bureaucratic ...

Transcriptome Landscape of Cancer‐Associated Fibroblasts in Human PDAC

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
AP‐1 family members FOS and JUN regulate the malignant phenotype conversion of normal fibroblasts (NFs) to normal‐like cancer‐associated fibroblasts (nCAFs), while transforming growth factor‐β (TGFβ) and interferon‐γ (IFNγ) signals triggers the interconversion between classic myofibroblastic CAFs (myCAFs) and inflammatory CAFs (iCAFs), respectively ...

Aplib: Tactical Programming of Intelligent Agents [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
This paper presents aplib, a Java library for programming intelligent agents, featuring BDI and multi agency, but adding on top of it a novel layer of tactical programming inspired by the domain of theorem proving. Aplib is also implemented in such a way to provide the fluency of a Domain Specific Language (DSL).

Unveiling Salt Tolerance Mechanisms in Plants: Integrating the KANMB Machine Learning Model With Metabolomic and Transcriptomic Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Salt stress endangers coastal cereal crops, requiring resilient crop solutions. This study employs machine learning (KANMB) to analyze multi‐omics data from halophyte Spartina alterniflora, revealing 226 salt‐stress biomarkers and linking them to tolerance pathways. The MYB gene SaMYB35 regulates flavonoid biosynthesis under salinity.

Java dust [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 9th International Workshop on Java Technologies for Real-Time and Embedded Systems, 2011
Java is slowly being accepted as a language and platform for embedded devices. However, the memory requirements of the Java library and runtime are still troublesome. A Java system is considered small when it requires less than 1 MB, and within the embedded domain small microcontollers with a few KB on-chip Flash memory and even less on-chip RAM are ...

A Touch Enabled Hemodynamic and Metabolic Monitor

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a touch‐based hybrid platform for simultaneous monitoring of vital signs and sweat metabolites. With a simple tri‐finger touch of 4–6 min, users can concurrently get to know their glucose, uric acid, cortisol levels from fingertip sweat, along with blood pressure and heart rate.

A CSP implementation of the directed bigraph embedding problem [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Directed bigraphs are a meta-model which generalises Milner's bigraphs by taking into account the request flow between controls and names. A key problem about these bigraphs is that of bigraph embedding, i.e., finding the embeddings of a bigraph inside a larger one.We present an algorithm for computing embeddings of directed bigraphs, via a reduction ...
