Embedded Systems Security for FPGA

open access: yes, 2011
The main goal of this chapter is to study FPGA devices in the field of secured applications. We mainly address data protection based on a well defined threat model. When dealing with FPGAs at the system level, two kinds of data are of paramount importance: bitstream and external memory.

Beyond digital twins: the role of foundation models in enhancing the interpretability of multiomics modalities in precision medicine

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review highlights how foundation models enhance predictive healthcare by integrating advanced digital twin modeling with multiomics and biomedical data. This approach supports disease management, risk assessment, and personalized medicine, with the goal of optimizing health outcomes through adaptive, interpretable digital simulations, accessible ...

Hydrogen sulfide repairs testicular damage induced by heat stress in rats

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Heat stress can cause testicular damage and affect fertility. We investigated the potential protective role of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) against heat stress‐induced testicular injury and observed that H2S donor NaHS can effectively restore testicular damage in rats by inhibiting inflammation and oxidative stress. Our results suggest that H2S might be used

A non‐fluorescent immunohistochemistry method for measuring autophagy flux using MAP1LC3/LC3 and SQSTM1 as core markers

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We introduce an immunohistochemistry method to measure autophagy flux, highlighting the active degradation and recycling of cellular waste. This cost‐effective approach uses tissue samples to track key markers like LC3 and SQSTM1, revealing how cells maintain health or respond to diseases such as cancer. It bridges the gap between research and clinical

Embedding asymptotically expansive system [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
We prove a Krieger like embedding theorem for asymptotically expansive systems with the small boundary property. We show that such a system $(X; T)$ embeds in the $K$-full shift with $h_{top}(T) < \log K $ and $\sharp Per_n(X; T) \leq \sharp Per_n(\{1,...,K\}^{\mathbb{Z}};\sigma)$ for any integer $n$.

Enhancing transporter activity in heterologous expression systems with SAHA: a 2500‐times more potent and odorless alternative to butyrate

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Heterologous expression of membrane transporters in cultured cells is essential for functional characterization, but is sometimes limited by low activity. Our study compares the HDAC inhibitors butyrate, VPA and SAHA to enhance transport activity. We propose to replace butyrate by SAHA: it is equally effective, devoid of repulsive odor, costs less, and

T-Visor: A Hypervisor for Mixed Criticality Embedded Real-time System with Hardware Virtualization Support [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Recently, embedded systems have not only requirements for hard real-time behavior and reliability, but also diversified functional demands, such as network functions. To satisfy these requirements, virtualization using hypervisors is promising for embedded systems.

Establishment and biological characterization of radioresistant colorectal cancer cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Under ionizing radiation exposure, radiation‐sensitive cancer cells exhibit oxidative stress and DNA damage, while radiation‐resistant cancer cells exhibit strong antioxidant properties and DNA damage repair. Radiotherapy resistance is a major cause of recurrence and metastasis in colorectal cancer (CRC).
