Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Numerical Exploration of Thermal Shock Resistance in MgO–C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A mesostructure‐resolved numerical framework is developed to evaluate the thermal shock resistance of MgO–C refractories. By modeling interface debonding under rapid temperature changes and introducing a modified thermal shock parameter that accounts for mesocracks, the study shows how graphite content and aggregate size influence thermal shock ...

In Situ Motor Fault Diagnosis Using Enhanced Convolutional Neural Network in an Embedded System

IEEE Sensors Journal, 2020
Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are one of the most efficient deep learning techniques and have been widely used in motor fault diagnosis. However, most of them are implemented in desktop computers to process off-line signals.

Evolving Embedded Systems

Computer, 2010
Embedded systems pose special challenges to system evolution: they're embedded in a changing environment, often interacting with evolving processes of human organizations, and thus must be verified because of their critical nature. Complicating the situation, the analyses and testing regimens used to verify them must evolve as well.

Bearing fault diagnosis of a permanent magnet synchronous motor via a fast and online order analysis method in an embedded system

Mechanical systems and signal processing, 2017
A permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is a typical electromechanical system widely used in industrial automation. Bearing fault diagnosis is necessary because a bearing is a key and vulnerable component in a PMSM. Order analysis (OA) methods, which
