Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Medical Embedded Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Light-weight embedded systems are now gaining more popularity due to recent technological advances in fabrication of more powerful tiny processors. In particular, the field of pervasive computing and medical monitoring is emerging due to the development of tiny and low-profile computing nodes, mated with sensors and actuators, in close proximity to the

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Efficient Simulation of Structural Faults for the Reliability Evaluation at System-Level [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In recent technology nodes, reliability is considered a part of the standard design ¿ow at all levels of embedded system design. While techniques that use only low-level models at gate- and register transfer-level offer high accuracy, they are too ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Finite Size Scaling of Mutual Information: A Scalable Simulation

open access: yes, 2010
We develop a quantum Monte Carlo procedure to compute the Renyi mutual information of an interacting quantum many-body system at non-zero temperature. Performing simulations on a spin-1/2 XXZ model, we observe that for a subregion of fixed size embedded ...
