Overview of molecular signatures of senescence and associated resources: pros and cons

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cells can enter a stress response state termed cellular senescence that is involved in various diseases and aging. Detecting these cells is challenging due to the lack of universal biomarkers. This review presents the current state of senescence identification, from biomarkers to molecular signatures, compares tools and approaches, and highlights ...

Task-Optimized Word Embeddings for Text Classification Representations

open access: yesFrontiers in Applied Mathematics and Statistics, 2020
Word embeddings have introduced a compact and efficient way of representing text for further downstream natural language processing (NLP) tasks. Most word embedding algorithms are optimized at the word level.

SAR Algorithms for Embedded Platforms

open access: yes, 2021
Radar is an electromagnetic remote sensing system for the detection of reflecting targets. By transmitting pulses of very short duration, high resolution in the range direction can be easily achieved. However, traditional radar cannot distinguish between two side-by-side targets that are illuminated by the antenna beam at the same time.

SmallTalk: a novel small‐sized fusion tag for peptide expression and purification

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The SmallTalk fusion tag allows for the efficient expression and purification of soluble recombinant proteins or peptides in Escherichia coli. Testing with SmallTalk‐GFP confirmed that the proteins were soluble and folded correctly, while SmallTalk‐Bin1b maintained its antimicrobial activity against various bacterial isolates. This streamlined workflow

Enzymatic degradation of biopolymers in amorphous and molten states: mechanisms and applications

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review explains how polymer morphology and thermal state shape enzymatic degradation pathways, comparing amorphous and molten biopolymer structures. By integrating structure–reactivity principles with insights from thermodynamics and enzyme engineering, it highlights mechanisms that enable efficient polymer breakdown.

An efficient histogram-preserving steganography based on block

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Image and Video Processing, 2018
In order to reduce the influence on cover image caused by embedding algorithm, while keeping the histogram characteristics of cover image, in this paper a histogram preserving steganography algorithm is proposed based on dividing a secret message into ...

Tumor‐stromal crosstalk and macrophage enrichment are associated with chemotherapy response in bladder cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemoresistance in bladder cancer: Macrophage recruitment associated with CXCL1, CXCL5 and CXCL8 expression is characteristic of Gemcitabine/Cisplatin (Gem/Cis) Non‐Responder tumors (right side) while Responder tumors did not show substantial tumor‐stromal crosstalk (left side). All biological icons are attributed to Bioicons: carcinoma, cancerous‐cell‐

Link-first based quick coordinated virtual network embedding algorithm

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2015
In order to reduce costs of link embedding and increase revenue, a coordinated embedding algorithm based on link-first is proposed. The algorithm embeds link and node alternately, and embeds the virtual link that with greater band-width requirement first

On Weak Topology for Optimal Control of Switched Nonlinear Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Optimal control of switched systems is challenging due to the discrete nature of the switching control input. The embedding-based approach addresses this challenge by solving a corresponding relaxed optimal control problem with only continuous inputs ...
