Energy Efficiency of Buildings: The Aspect of Embodied Energy

Energy Technology, 2016
AbstractHow much energy is actually required to build energy‐efficient buildings? It is essential nowadays not only to invest in the design of more energy‐efficient buildings but also to pay more attention to the embodied energy of such building concepts.

Embodied energy of sugarcane harvesters

Biosystems Engineering, 2014
Intensification of agricultural production has largely been based on higher energy demand. In Brazil, sugarcane cultivation, ethanol production and the adoption of mechanised harvesting have increased since 2000 due to economic decisions and environmental constraints.

Derivation of energy-embodiment functions to estimate the embodied energy from the material content

Energy, 1996
The embodied energy includes the direct and indirect energy consumed for the entire production process. These values are needed to estimate impacts on energy consumption due to changes in consumption patterns. We have developed a model of the economic system to account for every production process. This model illustrates interrelations among production

The energy embodied in goods

Energy, 1978
Abstract This paper describes why the use of cost estimates can be source of uncertainty in net energy analysis. This occurs when costs are expressed in prices not equal to those used for price deflators. This uncertainty is reduced by estimating average prices for selected goods and services in units of 1967 dollars per ton.

Briefing: Embodied energy and emissions

Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Energy, 2011
This paper discusses the concepts of embodied energy and embodied greenhouse gas emissions. It looks at aspects of their development and evaluation, as well as the issues in defining design options and presenting the results of analysis. It is mainly focused on life cycle issues but also on how impacts are valued. It therefore highlights the links and

Embodied Energy and Energy Return on Investment

2017
Abstract It’s nearly always the case that the energy used to make materials dominates; the energy used in shipping either the raw materials or the finished product is usually small in comparison. For most things that we use, the embodied energy is much less than the energy consumed in operational use.

The Effects of Embodied Energy

2018
Embodied energy is the total amount of energy that was used for the production of a particular good. The chapter describes main principles that are related to this notion, gives the examples of estimation, as well as the examples of application in the energetic balances of biofuel production.

Embodied Energy

2010
