New Therapeutic Approaches in Pulmonary Embolism [PDF]

open access: yesRespiration, 2003
Pulmonary embolism as a part of venous thromboembolic disease has a broad spectrum of clinical presentations from minimal disease to life-threatening right heart failure. Therapy has to be guided by the risk associated with the individual clinical state of the patient.

Therapeutic Embolization of Cranial Tumors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The aim of embolization is to devascularize the tumor bed by filling intratumoral vascularization as deep as possible into the precapillary level to initiate tumor necrosis, decrease blood loss during surgery and thus make it easier and possibly, more radical, and in tumor of nasal cavity to stop epistaxis (Berenstein, 2004, Valavanis, 2002, Gupta ...

Wax microemboli tailored for therapeutic embolization [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Roentgenology, 1980
Recent reviews have dealt in detail with therapeutic embolization [1 -3]. This technique offers a wide range of therapeutic possibilities especially for cases of hemorrhage, tumor, and vascular malformation; new applications are continually being introduced [3-6].

THE FAT EMBOLISM SYNDROME [PDF]

open access: yesSurvey of Anesthesiology, 1976
Results of a therapeutic regime for the fat embolism syndrome are presented. The basis of this regime is to prevent hypoxia by use of oxygen and if necessary intermittent positive pressure, ventilation. Prophylactic oxygen therapy in patients likely to develop the fat embolism syndrome is suggested.

Therapeutic embolization of polycystic kidneys [PDF]

open access: possibleInternational Urology and Nephrology, 1981
In two patients with end-stage polycystic kidneys suffering from severe and protracted hematuria recourse was made to therapeutic renal embolization. Hematuria stopped immediately, never to appear again, whilst recanalization of the arterial renal circulation was observed later.

Therapeutic embolization of juvenile angiofibroma [PDF]

open access: possibleAmerican Journal of Roentgenology, 1979
Therapeutic embolization of juvenile angiofibromas was performed in 15 boys, aged 12--18 years, 11 of whom subsequently underwent surgery. Intraoperative blood loss was reduced from an average of 2,400 ml in nonembolized patients to 800 ml after embolization. Angiography is of value to confirm the diagnosis prior to excision and to delineate the extent
