Packaging of Macroscopic Material Payloads: Needs, Challenges, Concepts, and Future Directions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 9, 6 May 2026.
This review introduces a unified framework that decomposes any macroscopic packaging system into the payload, packaging material, and packaging strategy and combines them into a conceptual packaging equation: packaging strategy = payload + packaging material.

Failure Mechanisms and Fault Evolution in All‐Solid‐State Batteries: From Materials to Cell‐Level Degradation

open access: yesBattery Energy, Volume 5, Issue 3, May 2026.
The degradation of all‐solid‐state batteries stems from coupled chemo‐electro‐mechanical interactions across materials, interfaces, and cell structure. This review systematically analyzes failure mechanisms involving material instability, interfacial contact loss, and stress evolution, offering guidance for battery design.

Long Versus Short Chain Covalent Functionalization in the Preparation of Mechanochromic Polymers

open access: yesChemistry–Methods, Volume 6, Issue 5, May 2026.
A perylene bisimide (PBI) macromechanophore featuring poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL) spacers was covalently incorporated into poly(styrene‐ethylene‐butylene‐styrene) (SEBS) and low‐density polyethylene (LLDPE) matrices. Compared to a short‐spacer PBI, the long‐spacer enhanced force transduction while preserving mechanical properties.
