Evolution of emission line galaxies
1994NOTE: Text or symbols not renderable in plain ASCII are indicated by [...]. Abstract is included in .pdf document. This thesis compares two samples of emission line galaxies, selected on the basis of the strength of their [0111]λλ4959, 5007 and/or Hβ λ4861 emission lines.

[CII] line emission from spiral galaxies
2008We have measured 158 μm [CII] line emission from a sample of thirteen gas rich galaxies. The new data are combined with the previous sample of six infrared bright galaxies of Crawford et al. 1985. The [CII] line is bright in all of the galaxies detected amounting to between .1 and 2% of the total nuclear far-infrared (FIR) luminosity, and is therefore ...

Emission-line variability in Seyfert galaxies
Publications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, 1988Observations and theory of emission-line variability in Seyfert galaxies are reviewed in the context of standard photoionization models of the emission-line regions. Expected time scales for variability and systematic effects which can give misleading results are discussed. Published observations of emission-line variability are summarized.

Redshift surveys of emission-line galaxies
Publications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, 1988The usefulness of employing samples of emission-line galaxies as alternative means of conducting redshift surveys is discussed. Results in the directions of the Bootes and Coma voids show certain differences. In Bootes approximately ten objects have been identified within the void, but the Coma void appears empty at the same luminosities. The Coma void

Broad emission lines in active galaxies
