The redshift and X-ray photon index evolutionary LX-LUV relations of quasars

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
The LX-LUV relation serves as a cornerstone for extending the Hubble diagram to higher redshift by utilizing quasars as standard candles. However, the constancy of the LX-LUV relation has been embroiled in controversy recently.

Coronal line emission from NLS1s

open access: yesNew Astronomy Reviews, 2000
We discuss the optical coronal line spectra observed for a sample of 19 Narrow-Line Seyfert 1 galaxies. We find no correlation between the coronal line strength and the soft X-ray power-law index derived from ROSAT PSPC data. There is a trend for broader coronal lines to have larger equivalent widths.

Importin 7 mediates the nuclear import of HIV‐1 integrase via a specific interacting interface

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
HIV‐1 integrase enables viral DNA integration into the host genome. By binding to the core domain of the host protein Importin 7 via its C‐terminal domain, the integrase is transported across the nuclear membrane into the nucleus, where integration of the viral genome into host DNA takes place. This translocation is a critical step for subsequent viral

UV Line Emissions Of 44i Bootis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Astronomy and Space Sciences, 1998
We obtained UV light curves of 44i Bootis, a W UMa type star from the IUE low dispersion spectra. In order to investigate variations of the emission lines from chromospheric activity and transition region, UV line intensity has been measured for CI, CII,

New Constraints on Quasar Broad Absorption and Emission Line Regions from Gravitational Microlensing

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2017
Gravitational microlensing is a powerful tool allowing one to probe the structure of quasars on sub-parsec scale. We report recent results, focusing on the broad absorption and emission line regions.

Structural studies and functional engineering of NanX: an anhydro‐sialic acid transporter from Escherichia coli

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biophysical characterisation shows that NanX, a membrane transport protein from the major facilitator superfamily (MFS), forms both monomers and dimers after purification. AlphaFold modelling and substrate docking provide information on residues likely involved in substrate recognition for NanX and another MFS member, NanT.

The radio structure of 3C 316, a galaxy with double-peaked narrow optical emission lines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The galaxy 3C 316 is the brightest in the radio band among the optically selected candidates exhibiting double-peaked narrow optical emission lines. Observations with the Very Large Array, Multi-Element Remotely Linked Interferometer Network (e-MERLIN ...

Far-infrared Emission Lines as Metallicity Diagnostic

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The chemical abundance of the interstellar medium is a key tracer of galaxy evolution. Optical and ultraviolet emission lines are widely used to derive gas-phase metallicities, but suffer from uncertainties due to possible temperature fluctuations and ...

Clinical Validation of Plasma p‐217tau in Neurological Diseases

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Plasma p‐217tau is a minimally invasive but specific biomarker for diagnosing Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, its disease specificity remains to be clinically evaluated. We validated the reliability of the p‐217tau biomarker in 12 other neurological diseases.

Design and development of micro-electromechanical acoustic emission sensors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) is a vital technique in modern engi- neering, enabling the monitoring of the structural health of a com- ponent and therefore enabling the prediction of component failure.
