Mid‐infrared detection and characterization of refractory inclusions in CM and CO chondrites: A non‐destructive approach for returned space samples

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, Volume 60, Issue 3, Page 544-569, March 2025.
Abstract Refractory inclusions (RIs) in chondrites are widely used as tracers of early solar system formation conditions. In the context of sample‐return missions, a non‐destructive and non‐invasive analytical tool that can rapidly detect and characterize RIs in space samples during their early phase of study is highly needed.

Herschel imaging of the dust in the Helix Nebula (NGC 7293) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In our series of papers presenting the Herschel imaging of evolved planetary nebulae, we present images of the dust distribution in the Helix nebula (NGC 7293). Images at 70, 160, 250, 350, and 500 micron were obtained with the PACS and SPIRE instruments

VIS‐to‐MIR reflectance and Raman spectroscopy of the CM2 NWA 12184 carbonaceous chondrite

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, Volume 60, Issue 3, Page 570-595, March 2025.
Abstract The spectral analysis of CM meteorites can help to constrain the mineralogical composition of their parent body, the C‐type asteroids. The CM2 NWA 12184 was spectrally examined employing seven complementary techniques at different spatial resolutions, including VIS‐to‐MIR reflectance and Raman spectroscopy.

Microtextures and structures in metal–sulfide grains in NWA 869 meteorite and their relation to thermal history of L‐chondrite parent body

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, Volume 60, Issue 3, Page 616-631, March 2025.
Abstract Results of microanalysis study of NWA 869 meteorite, an ordinary chondrite, where silicates, Fe‐Ni alloys, and troilite are major constituents, are reported. The presented study of microtextures in metallic and sulfide grains provides information on processes occurring from the asteroid's accretion, through the impacts until cooling.

On the Radio Emission of Hydrogen Nebulae [PDF]

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Physics, 1958
The interpretation of radio-frequency observations of H II regions is discussed with particular regard for the possible effects of random variations in the electron density and electron temperature through the nebulae. It is shown that such variations serve to alter the optical depth and that the conventional definition of the "emission measure ...

The Unusual Variability of the Large Magellanic Cloud Planetary Nebula RPJ 053059-683542

open access: yes, 2007
We present images and light curves of the bipolar Planetary Nebula RPJ 053059-683542 that was discovered in the Reid-Parker AAO/UKST H-alpha survey of the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC).

René Girard's Revision and Misapprehension of Psychoanalysis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Psychoanalytic Studies, Volume 22, Issue 2, June 2025.
ABSTRACT René Girard's theories of mimetic desire, religious sacrifice, and violence have been immensely provocative and influential. His ways of framing literary desire and conflict are fascinating, as they illustrate how desire and rivalry unleashed lead to violence and derangement.

Volume measurement of microparticles using SEM photogrammetry and 3‐D reconstruction

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, Volume 60, Issue 5, Page 1227-1235, May 2025.
Abstract In this paper, we introduce a method for volume measurement of microparticles that includes scanning electron microscope photogrammetry with 3‐D model construction. Our results show that our method limits the volume uncertainty to ±10%, which is a significant improvement compared to previous methods (which likely overestimated volume by 100 ...

Molecular Hydrogen in Orion as Observed by the Far Ultraviolet Spectroscopic Explorer

open access: yes, 2005
Diffuse far-ultraviolet stellar emission scattered by dust grains has been observed in a region near the Orion Nebula. In addition to the scattered stellar continuum, emission and absorption features produced by molecular hydrogen have been identified ...

Towards sustainable school food: An experiential planetary health framework integrating meals and food education

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, Volume 51, Issue 2, Page 826-847, April 2025.
Abstract This study addresses the complex challenges of childhood obesity, food poverty and environmental degradation by developing a planetary health framework for school food in education. Drawing on Dewey's experiential learning philosophy, it adopts an integrative approach where school meals and food education converge.
