Emission spectrum of V3+-αAl2O3 [PDF]
Two emission lines of V3+-αAl2O 3 have been obtained in the near infrared region (9 740 cm-1) at 2 K, 10 K and 77 K. Lifetimes of these lines and their behaviour under stress have been analyzed and an interpretation is suggested.

We generally analyze prompt high-energy emission above a few hundreds of GeV due to synchrotron self-Compton scattering in internal shocks. However, such photons cannot be detected because they may collide with cosmic infrared background photons, leading

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

Emission dynamics and spectrum of a nanoshell-based plasmonic nanolaser spaser
We study theoretically the emission and lasing properties of a single nanoshell spaser nanoparticle with an active core and a plasmonic metal shell. Using time-dependent equations for the gain medium and metal, we calculate the lasing threshold through ...

The Mid-Infrared Spectrum of Star-forming Galaxies: Global Properties of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon Emission [PDF]
We present a sample of low-resolution 5-38 μm Spitzer IRS spectra of the inner few square kiloparsecs of 59 nearby galaxies spanning a large range of star formation properties.

A softer look at MCG--6-30-15 with XMM-Newton
We present analysis and results from the Reflection Grating Spectrometer during the 320 ks XMM observation of the Seyfert 1 galaxy MCG-6-30-15. The spectrum is marked by a sharp drop in flux at 0.7 keV which has been interpreted by Branduardi-Raymont et ...

Aged human bmMSCs are seeded in the scaffold. Osteoblastic induction can slightly increase cell's bone‐forming activity to produce bone‐like tissues, shown as the sporadic xylenol orange‐stained spots (the lower left image). Notably, pioglitazone plus EGCG co‐treatment dramatically increases cell's bone‐forming activity and bone‐like tissue production (

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.
