Research on the Emission Uniformity of Explosive Emission Cathodes in Foilless Diodes

IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 2014
Some factors that influence the emission uniformity of explosive emission cathodes (EECs) in foilless diodes such as the guiding magnetic field strength and the rise rate of electric field have been researched in former literatures. This paper is concentrated on another factor that has been overlooked previously, i.e., the defects with dimensions of ...

Emission Uniformity and Shot-to-Shot Variation in Cold Field Emission Cathodes

IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 2004
High-power microwave tubes require currents and voltages generally in excess of 1 kA and 100 kV. In the past, these system requirements led to the use of single shot machines, with repetition rates well under 1 Hz. With advances in pulsed power, the Air Force Research Laboratory recently began to investigate the performance of field emission diodes at ...

Effect of emission uniformity on performance of field emission displays

IVMC '95. Eighth International Vacuum Microelectronics Conference. Technical Digest (Cat. No.TH8012), 2002
A VGA field emission display with gated field emitters is simulated on a computer using a spreadsheet program. By using Fowler-Nordheim theory and statistical analysis, we studied how emission uniformity of field emitters affected field emission display performances, such as brightness variation, contrast ratio, gray scalability and lifetime.

Enhanced coherent Raman emission from uniform plasmas

The Physics of Fluids, 1976
A mechanism for the coherent emission of radio and microwaves from a warm uniform plasma is proposed. The output power from this mechanism appears to have the characteristics of a classical parametric amplification process. An earlier kinetic theory model for radiation by the scattering of plasma waves in a homogeneous plasma is revamped and modified ...

Uniform carbon nanoflake films and their field emissions

Chemical Physics Letters, 2002
Films of uniformly distributed carbon nanoflakes have been prepared by using hot filament chemical vapor deposition. A large amount of carbon flakes with a thickness of less than 20 nm interlaced together to form a layer of carbon nest-like film with their sharp edges almost perpendicular to the Si substrate.

Assessment of Emission Uniformity for Micro-irrigation Design

Biosystems Engineering, 2006
Emission uniformity EU has been one of the most frequently used criteria for micro-irrigation design and evaluation. The original emission uniformity formula, which was derived by a worst combination of hydraulic variation and manufacturer's variation, can provide a very conservative design with a smaller value for EU than that measured in the field ...

Uniform field emission from polycrystalline CVD-diamond films

9th International Vacuum Microelectronics Conference, 2002
We have systematically investigated the electron emission of various kinds of polycrystalline CVD-diamond films by means of a Field Emission Scanning Microscope with /spl mu/m resolution, which contains an in situ scanning electron microscope. Besides the previously reported enhanced field emission from particulate contamination and other surface ...

Uniform carbon‐nanotube emitter for field‐emission displays

Journal of the Society for Information Display, 2005
Abstract— The synthesis of carbon‐nanotube (CNT) field emitters for FEDs by thermal chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and their structural and emission characterization are described. Multi‐walled nanotubes (MWNTs) were grown on patterned metal‐base electrodes by thermal CVD, and the grown CNTs formed a network structured layer covering the surfaces of ...

Uniform Cerium-Based Coordination Polymer Microspheres: Preparation and Upconversion Emission

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2016
Homogeneously doped Yb3+ and Er3+ cerium-based coordination polymer (CP) microspheres have been successfully synthesized on a large scale through a simple solvothermal route with 2, 5-pyridinedicarboxylic acid (2, 5-H2PDC) as the organic linker. CeO2:Yb3+, Er3+ porous microspheres were obtained by annealing the corresponding CP microspheres at 600 °C ...

Study of Freestanding carbon nanotube array field emission uniformity with field emission microscopy

2016 IEEE 16th International Conference on Nanotechnology (IEEE-NANO), 2016
Field emission microscopy (FEM) has been used in materials science to investigate molecular surface structures and their electronic properties. Since PMMA thin film is electron sensitive, it allows us to visualize and record the FE performance of the CNT arrays.
