Alternate lightening display method for surface-conduction electron-emission display
Displays, 2012Abstract Alternate Lightening Display Method (ALDM) for surface-conduction electron-emission display (SED) is proposed to help cutting down the panel fabrication cost. Since the landing position of the emitted electrons on the phosphor plate is mainly determined by the polarity of the device voltage and close to the positive voltage electrode, the ...

MOSFET-controlled field emission display (MCFED)
IVMC 2001. Proceedings of the 14th International Vacuum Microelectronics Conference (Cat. No.01TH8586), 2002To evaluate the validity of MCFEA for display application, a 0.7"-diagonal monochrome MCFED was fabricated. The electrical properties of FEA, HVMOSFET, and MCFEA were measured respectively. The gate hole diameter of a fabricated FEA is 1.25 /spl mu/m and the extraction gate voltage to obtain the emission current of 10 nA/tip is 71 V.

Degradation of field emission display phosphors
Journal of Applied Physics, 2000Degradation of ZnS and Y2O2S cathodoluminescent (CL) phosphors has been studied at 1–4 keV using Auger electron spectroscopy simultaneous with CL. The data are consistent with an electron stimulated surface chemical reaction (ESSCR) which led to destruction of ZnS and formation of a surface nonluminescent ZnO layer as well as injection of oxygen point ...

Materials for field emission displays
International Materials Reviews, 2001The design, development, and manufacture of field emission displays present the materials scientist with a myriad of issues and constraints. These range from the suitability of the cold cathode layer, the compatibility and adhesion of the various layers that form the device, and the overall approach to sealing and operating the display in a product ...

Aerosol Emissions from Outdoor Firework Displays
Chemical Engineering & Technology, 2011AbstractThe results of investigations on the emission of particulate matter from three outdoor firework displays are presented. During these events, possibly harmful and toxic aerosol emissions were measured. Aerosols in the size range from 30 to 450 nm were detected. The maxima in the observed particle size distribution were between 80 and 175 nm, and

Modeling the bidirectional reflectance of emissive displays
Applied Optics, 2002The reflection properties of a display device influence the available contrast and affect the perception of subtle detail. The display reflection characteristics of flat-panel displays (FPDs) are appropriately described by a six-dimensional bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF).

A highly reliable field emission display
Eleventh International Vacuum Microelectronics Conference. IVMC'98 (Cat. No.98TH8382), 2002In this paper, a high brightness capability, high luminance efficiency, as well as long life (>5000 hr) of field emission display with very low power consumption is reported. The reliability issue was studied as a function of the pressure inside the FED. By the optimal designs and choices of the cathode, anode, especially construction technology of FED,

Ferroelectric electron emission flat panel display
Journal of Applied Physics, 1996Ferroelectric electron emission observed under periodic spontaneous polarization switching is the basis for the development of a new type of flat panel display. Electron emission occurs from individually operated ferroelectric domains. It is shown that ferroelectric displays may be fabricated in ‘‘plane-to-plane’’ geometry which is not possible for ...
