Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Phosphorus emitter profile control for silicon solar cell using the doss diffusion technique

open access: yesRevue des Énergies Renouvelables, 2016
The Doped Oxide Solid Source (DOSS) diffusion technique is well suited for fine-tuning of the surface concentration. The dopant surface concentration is important during phosphorus emitter diffusion due to the opposite requirements of a lowly doped ...

Reconfigurable metasurface emitters

open access: yesEngineering Reports, 2022
In this article, we propose a reconfigurable metasurface emitter (MSE) with beam shaping capability without using any phase shifter or a superstrate. MSEs consist of repeating radiative inclusions (unit cells) distributed on a surface.

Sub-wavelength localization of near-fields in coupled metallic spheres for single emitter polarization analysis

open access: yes, 2011
We numerically demonstrate selective near-field localization determined by the polarization state of a single emitter coupled to plasmonic nano-cluster.

Ensemble-induced strong light-matter coupling of a single quantum emitter

open access: yes, 2020
We discuss a technique to strongly couple a single target quantum emitter to a cavity mode, which is enabled by virtual excitations of a nearby mesoscopic ensemble of emitters. A collective coupling of the latter to both the cavity and the target emitter

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

The anode proximity effect for generic smooth field emitters

open access: yes, 2019
The proximity of the anode to a curved field electron emitter alters the electric field at the apex and its neighbourhood. A formula for the apex field enhancement factor, $\gamma_a(D)$, for generic smooth emitters is derived using the line charge model ...

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Screening for lung cancer: A systematic review of overdiagnosis and its implications

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low‐dose computed tomography (CT) screening for lung cancer may increase overdiagnosis compared to no screening, though the risk is likely low versus chest X‐ray. Our review of 8 trials (84 660 participants) shows added costs. Further research with strict adherence to modern nodule management strategies may help determine the extent to which ...

Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence in Organic Semiconductors and Its Application in Light-Emitting Diodes

open access: yesEast European Journal of Physics
The presence of the effect of thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) in organic light-emitting materials (emitters), manifested in the "collecting" of triplet excitons in organic semiconductor complexes that do not contain noble metals, creates ...
