Real‐time assay of ribonucleotide reductase activity with a fluorescent RNA aptamer
Ribonucleotide reductases (RNR) synthesize DNA building blocks de novo, making them crucial in DNA replication and drug targeting. FLARE introduces the first single‐tube real‐time coupled RNR assay, which enables isothermal tracking of RNR activity at nanomolar enzyme levels and allows the reconstruction of allosteric regulatory patterns and rapid ...

Properties of Ly-alpha emitters around the radio galaxy MRC 0316-257
Observations of the radio galaxy MRC 0316-257 at z=3.13 and the surrounding field are presented. Using narrow- and broad-band imaging obtained with the VLT, 77 candidate Ly-alpha emitters with a rest-frame equivalent width of > 15 A were selected in a ~7'

Single photons emitted by nano-crystals optically trapped in a deep parabolic mirror
We investigate the emission of single photons from CdSe/CdS dot-in-rods which are optically trapped in the focus of a deep parabolic mirror. Thanks to this mirror, we are able to image almost the full 4$\pi$ emission pattern of nanometer-sized elementary

Multidrug transporters BpeB and BpeF from the Gram‐negative pathogen Burkholderia pseudomallei have a hydrophilic patch in their substrate‐binding pocket. Drug susceptibility tests and growth curve analyses using an Escherichia coli recombinant expression system revealed that the hydrophilic patches of BpeB and BpeF are involved in the substrate ...

Scattering of massless particles in one-dimensional chiral channel
We present a general formalism describing a propagation of an arbitrary multiparticle wave packet in a one-dimensional multimode chiral channel coupled to an ensemble of emitters which are distributed at arbitrary positions.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Integration of chip-scale quantum technology was the main aim of this study. First, the recent progress on silicon-based photonic integrated circuits is surveyed, and then it is shown that silicon integrated quantum photonics can be considered a ...

Nanophotonic engineering of far-field thermal emitters [PDF]
Thermal emission is a ubiquitous and fundamental process by which all objects at non-zero temperatures radiate electromagnetic energy. This process is often assumed to be incoherent in both space and time, resulting in broadband, omnidirectional light ...

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Field emission characteristics of a small number of carbon fiber emitters
This paper reports an experiment that studies the emission characteristics of small number of field emitters. The experiment consists of nine carbon fibers in a square configuration.
