Empact syndrome: Case report

2010
Intracranial malignancies often complicated by seizure activity. For this reason, phenytoin is typically employed as a prophylactic anticonvulsant. However, severe cutaneous adverse effects may occur in these patients. Especially in patients who received cranial radiotherapy, starting from the radiation field to the whole body can be seen erythema ...

EMPACT: A detector for high-pT physics at the SSC

Nuclear Physics B - Proceedings Supplements, 1991
Abstract EMPACT is a high-transverse-momentum physics detector for the SSC. It aims for a precise measurement of electrons, muons, jets and missing transverse energy using a superior calorimeter surrounded by air-core toroidal magnets forming a precision muon spectrometer. The baseline design of EMPACT is described.

Electromagnetic packable technology (EMPACT) for detection and characterization of ordnance in post-conflict areas

SPIE Proceedings, 2013
Land reclamation efforts in post-conflict regions are often hampered by the presence of Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) or other Explosive Remnants of War (ERW). Surface geophysical methods, such as Electromagnetic Induction (EMI) and magnetometry, are typically applied to screen rehabilitation areas for UXO prior to excavation; however, the prevalence of ...

A Superconducting Air Core Toroid Muon Spectrometer for the Empact/Texas Detector

1991
The primary effort after the submittal of the Expression of Interest (EOI)[1] in May 1990 was downscoping the EMPACT/TEXAS detector system to reduce cost. This required parameterizing the various detector systems to determine performance-cost sensitivities, and design modifications to determine absolute cost reductions.
