New Goodness-of-Fit Tests for the Kumaraswamy Distribution

open access: yesStats
The two-parameter distribution known as the Kumaraswamy distribution is a very flexible alternative to the beta distribution with the same (0,1) support.

Rainfall Distribution Pattern of Progo Watershed in Observational and Empirical Method [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2019
Automatic Rainfall Recorder (ARR) has not been widely available in Indonesia, so data of rainfall is available in the form of daily rainfall. To know the pattern of rainfall distribution in a watershed, there are two methods, they are the observational ...

Digital twins to accelerate target identification and drug development for immune‐mediated disorders

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Digital twins integrate patient‐derived molecular and clinical data into personalised computational models that simulate disease mechanisms. They enable rapid identification and validation of therapeutic targets, prediction of drug responses, and prioritisation of candidate interventions.

Modelling the heterogeneity of tourist spending in a mature destination: An approach through infinite mixture

open access: yesHeliyon
Identifying tourists' preferences is essential for stakeholders to provide better products and services. Among the tools to classify such choices, expenditure segmentation is valuable for separating tourist groups with shared interests.

Objective classification of empirical probability distributions and the issue of event detection

open access: yesJournal of Telecommunications and Information Technology, 2023
The paper concentrates on the issue of classification of empirical probability distributions (histograms), which is useful both in management situations and in event detection or event mining.

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Distributed Pair Programming: An Empirical Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Pair programming provides many benefits, both to the programmers and to the product that they develop. However, pair programming is limited to those situations in which the developers can collocate, preventing its benefits from being enjoyed by the widest possible audience.

Distributed Personalized Empirical Risk Minimization

open access: yes, 2023
This paper advocates a new paradigm Personalized Empirical Risk Minimization (PERM) to facilitate learning from heterogeneous data sources without imposing stringent constraints on computational resources shared by participating devices. In PERM, we aim to learn a distinct model for each client by learning who to learn with and personalizing the ...

An Empirical Mass Function Distribution [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2018
Abstract The halo mass function, encoding the comoving number density of dark matter halos of a given mass, plays a key role in understanding the formation and evolution of galaxies. As such, it is a key goal of current and future deep optical surveys to constrain the mass function down to mass scales that typically host

Exploratory Analysis of ELP1 Expression in Whole Blood From Patients With Familial Dysautonomia

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Familial dysautonomia (FD) is a hereditary neurodevelopmental disorder caused by aberrant splicing of the ELP1 gene, leading to a tissue‐specific reduction in ELP1 protein expression. Preclinical models indicate that increasing ELP1 levels can mitigate disease manifestations.
