Risk aggregation with empirical margins: Latin hypercubes, empirical copulas, and convergence of sum distributions

open access: yes, 2015
This paper studies convergence properties of multivariate distributions constructed by endowing empirical margins with a copula. This setting includes Latin Hypercube Sampling with dependence, also known as the Iman--Conover method.

The extended empirical process test for non-Gaussianity in the CMB, with an application to non-Gaussian inflationary models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
In (Hansen et al. 2002) we presented a new approach for measuring non-Gaussianity of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) anisotropy pattern, based on the multivariate empirical distribution function of the spherical harmonics a_lm of a CMB map.

Implementation of gauss function in determing probability of floods at the gauge station 'Dolenci' on the Crna Reka in Republic of Macedonia [PDF]

open access: yesGeographica Pannonica, 2011
The Gaussian distribution function is symmetric and in hydrological research can be used for the purposes of comparison. After the determination of the parameters and the return probability levels associated with return periods of 2, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100 ...

Some Reliability Properties of Extropy and its Related Measures Using Quantile Function

open access: yesStatistica, 2021
Extropy is a recent addition to the family of information measures as a complementary dual of Shannon entropy, to measure the uncertainty contained in a probability distribution of a random variable.

Bounds for Weighted Empirical Distribution Functions

open access: yesThe Annals of Probability, 1981
Let $G_n$ be the empirical distribution based on $n$ independent uniform random variables. Criteria for bounds on the supremum of weighted discrepancies between $G_n(u)$ and $u$ of the form: $|w_\nu(u) D_n(u)|$, where $D_n(u) = G_n(u) - u, w_\nu(u) = (u(1 - u))^{-1 + \nu}$ and $0 \leq \nu \leq 1$, are derived.

Challenges with Dual Use of Auxiliary Variable: A Class of Estimators for Population Mean

open access: yesData Science in Science
The estimation of finite population mean is always of interest for different sampling techniques and it is the basic measure to find for sample to estimate one of the most applicable central tendency.

Poly-Weighted Exponentiated Gamma Distribution with Application

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Theory and Applications (JSTA), 2020
This paper proposes a weighting of the exponentiated gamma distribution with a polynomial function called the poly-weighted exponentiated gamma distribution (PWEGD).

Projection Index with Empirical Distribution Function

open access: yesJapanese journal of applied statistics, 2003

Tight-binding study of structure and vibrations of amorphous silicon

open access: yes, 2004
We present a tight-binding calculation that, for the first time, accurately describes the structural, vibrational and elastic properties of amorphous silicon.
