A Comparison of Empirical Tree Entropies [PDF]

open access: yesLecture Notes in Computer Science, 2020
Whereas for strings, higher-order empirical entropy is the standard entropy measure, several different notions of empirical entropy for trees have been proposed in the past, notably label entropy, degree entropy, conditional versions of the latter two, and empirical entropy of trees (here, called label-shape entropy).

Empirical Considerations of Entropy. II. The Entropies of Inorganic Complex Ions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Physics, 1953
A method is proposed by which the partial molal entropies of aqueous complex ions can be correlated in a simple manner as a function of the ratio of their charge to interatomic distance. The agreement obtained between the observed values and those calculated by this method has been shown to be within the accuracy of the experimental data.

Empirical Considerations of Entropy. I. The Entropies of the Oxy‐Anions and Related Species [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Physics, 1953
The partial molal entropies for oxy-anions and related species have been correlated as a function of the charge, interatomic distance, and certain structural factors. An equation is given by which the entropy for unknown species can now be estimated fairly accurately.

Asymptotic results for runs and empirical cumulative entropies

Journal of Statistical Planning and Inference, 2015
The paper under review deals with sequences of runs and of empirical cumulative entropies. The authors utilize the definition of runs based on differences and ratios of consecutive order statistics as in [\textit{S. Eryilmaz} and \textit{A. Stepanov}, ``Runs in an ordered sequence of random variables'', Metrika 67, No. 3, 299--311 (2008; Zbl 1357.60037)
