Point estimation with exponentially tilted empirical likelihood

open access: yes, 2007
Parameters defined via general estimating equations (GEE) can be estimated by maximizing the empirical likelihood (EL). Newey and Smith [Econometrica 72 (2004) 219--255] have recently shown that this EL estimator exhibits desirable higher-order ...

Electrical Conductivities of Conductors, Semiconductors, and Their Mixtures at Elevated Temperatures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a comprehensive review of temperature‐dependent electrical conductivity data for multiple material classes at elevated temperatures, highlighting a persistent conductivity gap between metals and semiconductors in the range of 102$\left(10\right)^{2}$– 107$\left(10\right)^{7}$ S/m. Metal–ceramic irregular metamaterials are proposed

Moment Conditions Selection Based on Adaptive Penalized Empirical Likelihood

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
Empirical likelihood is a very popular method and has been widely used in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and data mining as tablets and mobile application and social media dominate the technology landscape.

Information Theory Estimators for the First-Order Spatial Autoregressive Model

open access: yesEntropy, 2012
Information theoretic estimators for the first-order spatial autoregressive model are introduced, small sample properties are investigated, and the estimator is applied empirically. Monte Carlo experiments are used to compare finite sample performance of

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

Identification and Empirical Likelihood Inference in Nonlinear Regression Model with Nonignorable Nonresponse

open access: yesMathematics
The identification of model parameters is a central challenge in the analysis of nonignorable nonresponse data. In this paper, we propose a novel penalized semiparametric likelihood method to obtain sparse estimators for a parametric nonresponse ...

Reduce computation in profile empirical likelihood method [PDF]

open access: yes
Since its introduction by Owen in [29, 30], the empirical likelihood method has been extensively investigated and widely used to construct confidence regions and to test hypotheses in the literature.

Empirical Likelihood for Linear Models

open access: yesThe Annals of Statistics, 1991
If one wants to test the hypothesis that independent random vectors \(Z_ 1, \dots,Z_ n\) are identically distributed with expected value \(\mu\) while otherwise this common distribution remains unspecified, one can use what the author calls the ``empirical likelihood ratio statistic'' \[ R(\mu) = \max \left\{ \prod^ n_{i = 1} np_ i \mid p_ i \geq 0 ...

Adjusted Jackknife Empirical Likelihood

open access: yes, 2016
Jackknife empirical likelihood (JEL) is an effective modified version of empirical likelihood method (EL). Through the construction of the jackknife pseudo-values, JEL overcomes the computational difficulty of EL method when its constraints are nonlinear while maintaining the same asymptotic results for one sample and two-sample U statistics.
