Laser‐Welded Cellulose‐Carbon Nanotube Nanocomposites as a 3D Scaffold of Si Anodes for High‐Performance Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A Si anode comprising entangled networks of cellulose and SWCNT (C‐CNT) nanocomposites as an anode electrode for a high‐performance LIB is realized by fully utilizing the generated microstructure of a novel conductive 3D scaffold via a low‐temperature and eco‐friendly process. Additionally, localized heating via photo‐thermal conversion can be utilized

Empirical mode decomposition-based face recognition system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this work we explore the multivariate empirical mode decomposition combined with a Neural Network classifier as technique for face recognition tasks. Images are simultaneously decomposed by means of EMD and then the distance between the modes of the

Kernel methods for detecting coherent structures in dynamical data

open access: yes, 2019
We illustrate relationships between classical kernel-based dimensionality reduction techniques and eigendecompositions of empirical estimates of reproducing kernel Hilbert space (RKHS) operators associated with dynamical systems.

How Predictable are Temperature-series Undergoing Noise-controlled Dynamics in the Mediterranean [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Mediterranean is thought to be sensitive to global climate change, but its future interdecadal variability is uncertain for many climate models. A study was made of the variability of the winter temperature over the Mediterranean Sub-regional Area (MSA),

Bio-empirical mode decomposition: visible and infrared fusion using biologically inspired empirical mode decomposition [PDF]

open access: yesOptical Engineering, 2013
Bio-EMD, a biologically inspired fusion of visible and infrared (IR) images based on empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and color opponent processing, is introduced. First, registered visible and IR captures of the same scene are decomposed into intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) through EMD.

Dual‐Interface‐Dominant Cathode Architectures Enabling Fast Sulfur Redox and Stable Interfaces in All‐Solid‐State Li‐S Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An optimized carbon host nanostructure enables a dual‐interface‐dominant architecture in sulfur cathodes of solid‐state Li‐S batteries by selectively forming sulfur|carbon and sulfur|solid electrolyte interfaces. This tailored interfacial configuration accelerates sulfur redox kinetics by establishing enriched Li+/e– transport networks, while ...

A Multicomponent proximal algorithm for Empirical Mode Decomposition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
International audienceThe Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) is known to be a powerful tool adapted to the decomposition of a signal into a collection of intrinsic mode functions (IMF). A key procedure in the extraction of the IMFs is the sifting process

Dual‐Ligand Metal‐Organic Frameworks via In Situ Amidoxime Engineering for Selective Ion Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by microbial ion‐trapping mechanisms, a mild and universal strategy is developed to construct highly porous amidoxime‐functionalized MOFs. DFT calculations and molecular force measurements reveal that the dual‐ligand amidoxime configuration significantly strengthens Ga(III) affinity.

An adaptive denoising fault feature extraction method based on ensemble empirical mode decomposition and the correlation coefficient

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2017
Vibration signal processing is commonly used in the mechanical fault diagnosis. It contains abundant working status information. The vibration signal has some features such as non-linear and non-stationary. It has a lot of interference information. Fault
