Enhanced Switching Performance in Single‐Crystalline PbTiO3 Ferroelectric Memristors for Replicating Synaptic Plasticity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrated single‐crystalline PbTiO3‐based memristors with atomically sharp interfaces, well‐ordered lattices, and minimal lattice mismatch. The devices exhibited an ON/OFF ratio exceeding 105, high stability, and rich resistance‐state modulation.

Reichenbach, Russell and the Metaphysics of Induction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Hans Reichenbach’s pragmatic treatment of the problem of induction in his later works on inductive inference was, and still is, of great interest. However, it has been dismissed as a pseudo-solution and it has been regarded as problematically obscure ...

Microstructural Evolution Dominates the Changes in the Thermal Conductivity of Conjugated Polymers Upon Doping

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The relationship between the doping induced microstructure and thermal conductivity changes is elucidated for conjugated polymers. Eight conjugated polymers with different doping systems are studied, showing varied thermal conductivity responses based on structural order.

The Epistemology of “Epistemology Naturalized” [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Quine's “Epistemology Naturalized” has become part of the canon in epistemology and excited a widespread revival of interest in naturalism. Yet the status accorded the essay is ironic, since both friends and foes of philosophical naturalism deny that ...

Fast‐Responding O2 Gas Sensor Based on Luminescent Europium Metal‐Organic Frameworks (MOF‐76)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Luminescent MOF‐76 materials based on Eu(III) and mixed Eu(III)/Y(III) show rapid and reversible changes in emission intensity in response to O2 with very short response times. The effect is based on triplet quenching of the linker ligands that act as photosensitizers. Average emission lifetimes of a few milliseconds turn out to be mostly unaffected by

Some Recent Existential Appeals to Mathematical Experience

open access: yesPrincipia: An International Journal of Epistemology, 2006
Some recent work by philosophers of mathematics has been aimed at showing that our knowledge of the existence of at least some mathematical objects and/or sets can be epistemically grounded by appealing to perceptual experience. The sensory capacity that

On the problem of turbulence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
A central theme in the history of the turbulence problem is about the method of ‘closure’ in the models and ‘theories’ which have been proposed. Closure has invariably been by empirical calibration with experimental data.

Higher‐Order Temporal Dynamics in Complementary Charge Trap Memristor for High‐Dimensional Reservoir Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A complementary charge‐trap memristor (CoCTM) featuring a unique current transient with tunable overshoot‐relaxation dynamics is introduced for high‐resolution reservoir computing. By leveraging higher‐order temporal dynamics from engineered trapping layers, the device generates multiple output states from a single input, forming rich, high‐dimensional
