Gastric Emptying, Body Weight and Symptoms in Primary Anorexia Nervosa
British Journal of Psychiatry, 1993In a double-blind trial, 12 out-patients with primary anorexia nervosa received, for six weeks, either 10 mg cisapride or placebo, three times a day. Cisapride accelerated gastric emptying of a radiolabelled semisolid meal in all six patients; five gained weight and symptoms of gastric retention ameliorated in four.

The composition and energy content of empty body-weight change in mature cattle
Animal Science, 1984ABSTRACTBody-composition data from 73 non-pregnant, non-lactating cows of five genotypes were used to calculate the composition of empty body-weight change in mature cattle. The composition of empty body-weight change was shown to be dependent on empty body weight, containing more fat and less water, protein and ash at higher empty body weights.

Empty body weights, carcass weights and offal proportions were compared in 33 young beef bulls and 33 beef steers of different mature body size (35 small or mainly British breed crosses, 31 large or Continental crosses). All cattle were fed a high energy diet based on corn silage and high moisture corn from weaning to slaughter.

A computer model to predict empty body weight in cattle from diet and animal characteristics
Journal of Animal Science, 1992A computer model was developed to predict empty BW in cattle as a function of diet (forage NDF, physical form of forage [hay vs silage and pasture], proportion of dietary concentrates) and animal (full BW) characteristics. The model was empty BW = full BW * (1 - GFILL), where GFILL is gut fill expressed as a fraction of full BW.
