Effect of treatment conditions on the morphology of date empty fruit bunch lignocellulosic fiber for biocomposite applications

open access: yesCarbohydrate Polymer Technologies and Applications
The fiber of the empty date fruit is one of the waste products left after the date fruit is harvested from the date palm. Optimization of the treatment parameters as well as the economics of the treatment process are critical to the successful ...

Biochar from Empty Date Fruit Bunch as an Adsorbent to Remove Eriochrome Black T and Methylene Blue from Aqueous Solution

open access: yesApplied Environmental Research, 2022
Date fruit has a significant role in Sahara countries' economies. In this study, a bunch of empty dates waste was used to produce biochar, which will be used to adsorb Eriochrome black T (EBT) and methylene blue (MB) dyes from aqueous solution.

Immobilization and Controlled-Release Studies of Bovine Serum Albumin Using Empty Fruit Bunch Date Palm-Based Hydrogel Synthesized via Microwave Radiation. [PDF]

open access: yesPolymers (Basel)
The synthesis of sustainable and promising biomaterials for biomedical applications has recently gained increasing importance. In this study, a hybrid hydrogel was synthesized from empty palm date bunches through the blending of natural (carboxymethyl cellulose) and synthetic polymers (polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinylpyrrolidone) using both traditional and

Raw date palm empty fruit bunch as a new generation of biosorbent material and their application for phenol removal from wastewater

open access: yesInternational Journal of Environmental Analytical Chemistry
Biosorption potential of natural raw date palm empty fruit bunch after polyphenols extraction (DPEFB-PE) biowaste was assessed to determine its effectiveness in removing phenol contaminants molecules from aqueous solutions. DPEFB-PE biomaterial was found to have a high specific surface area (SBET = 177.68 m2 g−1), a total micropore volume of 0.86 cm3 g−

Thermogravimetric analysis and kinetic modeling for empty fruit bunch date palm pyrolysis

open access: yesBioresource Technology Reports
This study presents a comparative analysis of different kinetic models applied to the thermochemical pyrolysis of palm empty fruit bunch (PEFB). The kinetic parameters, particularly the activation energy, are determined through thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) of samples that underwent heating rates ranging from 10 to 50 ◦C/min.
