Intravenous metoclopramide for increasing endoscopic mucosal visualization in patients with acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding: a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, controlled trial

open access: yesScientific Reports
Acute upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage (UGIH) is the most common emergency condition that requires rapid endoscopic treatment. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of pre-endoscopic intravenous metoclopramide on endoscopic mucosal visualization (EMV)

Freeze–Thaw Resistance and Drying Shrinkage of Recycled Aggregate Concrete Proportioned by the Modified Equivalent Mortar Volume Method

open access: yesInternational Journal of Concrete Structures and Materials, 2017
To evaluate the effect of the mix proportioning method on drying shrinkage and freeze-and-thaw resistance of recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) concrete, two series of concrete mixes were made using the modified equivalent mortar volume (EMV) method and ...

Sustained inflations and avoiding mechanical ventilation to prevent death or bronchopulmonary dysplasia: a meta-analysis

open access: yesEuropean Respiratory Review, 2018
Sustained inflations and avoidance of endotracheal mechanical ventilation (eMV) are delivery room interventions aimed at preventing bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). Their effectiveness is the subject of the present meta-analysis.

Morphisms on $${ EMV}$$ EMV -algebras and their applications

open access: yesSoft Computing, 2018
For a new class of algebras, called $EMV$-algebras, every idempotent element $a$ determines an $MV$-algebra which is important for the structure of the $EMV$-algebra. Therefore, instead of standard homomorphisms of $EMV$-algebras, we introduce $EMV$-morphisms as a family of $MV$-homomorphisms from $MV$-algebras $[0,a]$ into other ones.

Equivalent Mortar Volume (EMV) method for proportioning recycled aggregate concrete: Validation under the Spanish context and its adaptation to Bolomey methodology for concrete proportioning

open access: yesMateriales de Construccion, 2013
A new method for proportioning recycled aggregates concrete (RAC) is used to check its feasibility under the Spanish context. First, an extensive experimental campaign has been done, with the purpose of check and analyze the applicability of the EMV ...

Standardized in vitro analysis of the degradability of hyaluronic acid fillers by hyaluronidase

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Medical Research, 2018
Background Hyaluronidase is a hyaluronic acid (HA) metabolizing enzyme, which is approved as an adjuvant for infiltration anesthesia. The “off-label” use of hyaluronidase is regarded as gold standard for the management of HA-filler-associated ...

On EMV-algebras

open access: yesFuzzy Sets and Systems, 2019
The paper deals with an algebraic extension of $MV$-algebras based on the definition of generalized Boolean algebras. We introduce a new algebraic structure, not necessarily with a top element, which is called an $EMV$-algebra and every $EMV$-algebra contains an $MV$-algebra.

Solving Daniel Bernoulli’s St Petersburg paradox: The paradox which is not and never was

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Economic and Management Sciences, 2003
It has been accepted for over 270 years that the expected monetary value (EMV) of the St Petersburg game is infinite. Accepting this leads to a paradox; no reasonable person is prepared to pay the predicted large sum to play the game but will only pay ...
