The ultrastructure of the enamel organ related to enamel formation
American Journal of Anatomy, 1968AbstractThe ultrastructure of the cells of the enamel organ related to enamel formation was studied using the lower incisors of adult male rats. In the region of enamel deposition, stratum intermedium cells are stabilized by a system of intercellular bridges and intracellular fibrils.

abstract— Each of six premolars were exposed to 8 ml of a buffer, pH 5.0. The ionic activity products for FA, HA, CaHPO4, CaF2 and Ca4H(PO4)3 were determined. It was found that the liquid phase initially was unsaturated with respect to all solid phases and that FA and HA were dissolving from the enamel.

Ectopic Tooth Enamel. An SEM Study of the Structure of Enamel in Enamel Pearls
Advances in Dental Research, 1989Eighteen human molars with enamel pearls ranging in diameter from 0.8 to 2.7 mm were sectioned, acid-etched, and processed for SEM observation. In addition to pearl enamel, the specimens contained crown enamel for comparison. All pearls were of the composite type.

In vitro wear of four ceramic materials and human enamel on enamel antagonist.
European Journal of Oral Sciences, 2016The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the wear of four different ceramics and human enamel. The ceramics used were lithium disilicate glass (e.max Press), leucite-reinforced glass (GN-Ceram), yttria-stabilized zirconia (Aadva Zr), and ...

EFFECT OF ENAMEL ON THE STRENGTH OF ENAMELING IRON*
Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1940AbstractGround‐coat enamel was first applied on one side and then on each side of 26‐, 20‐, 18‐, 10‐, and 6‐gauge enameling stock, and the strengths of the pieces were determined in cross bending. The results show a decided increase in strength for the enameled specimens over that of the stock before enameling.

Identification of proteins from human permanent erupted enamel.
European Journal of Oral Sciences, 2015Proteins from the extracellular matrix of enamel are highly specific and necessary for proper enamel formation. Most proteins are removed from the matrix by enamel proteases before complete mineralization is achieved; however, some residual protein ...

The Role of Enamel Tubule and the Evolution of Mammalian Enamel [PDF]
The fine structure of early amelogenesis is studied in the pig. The developing ameloblast has long apical processes (about 10 µm) which touch with the odontoblastic process within the predentin. Enamel tubules, containing the processes of the ameloblast and the odontoblast, are observed in early enamel formation.
