Endocytosis and Enamel Formation [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2017
Enamel formation requires consecutive stages of development to achieve its characteristic extreme mineral hardness. Mineralization depends on the initial presence then removal of degraded enamel proteins from the matrix via endocytosis. The ameloblast membrane resides at the interface between matrix and cell.

High‐Performance Millimeter Scale Electromagnetic Generator

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A high‐performance millimeter‐scale electromagnetic generator (mmEMG) is developed using magnetic flux concentrator (MFC) films on both coil ends to enhance magnetic flux. Through simulations and experiments, structural and magnetic properties are optimized, achieving a 5.6‐fold electrical output improvement.

Msx2 in ameloblast cell fate and activity

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2015
While many effectors have been identified in enamel matrix and cells via genetic studies, physiological networks underlying their expression levels and thus the natural spectrum of enamel thickness and degree of mineralization are now just emerging ...

Supervariate Gel Transforms into Various Biominerals in Salt Solutions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
It is revealed that common calcium‐based biominerals can form from a stable, non‐toxic ‘supervariate’ gel. This tunable gel selectively yields calcite or hydroxyapatite in carbonate/phosphate solutions, while CaCl₂ facilitates the formation of dihydrate calcium pyrophosphate, which converts to hydroxyapatite upon drying. These findings provide insights

Hierarchically mimicking outer tooth enamel for restorative mechanical compatibility

open access: yesNature Communications
Tooth enamel, and especially the outer tooth enamel, is a load-resistant shell that benefits mastication but is easily damaged, driving the need for enamel-restorative materials with comparable properties to restore the mastication function and protect ...

Nonlocal Conduction in a Metawire

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 13, April 2, 2025.
A 1D metawire composed of twisted copper wires is designed and realized. This metamaterial exhibits pronounced effects of nonlocal electric conduction according to Ohm's law. The current at one location not only depends on the electric field at that location but also on other locations.

The effect of multiple enamel conditioning on enamel micro-hardness

open access: yesDental Research Journal, 2022
White spot formation is one of the common side effects in orthodontic treatments and multiple enamel conditioning might happen even during on session of fixed orthodontic treatments. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the impact of multiple enamel conditioning with different methods on enamel micro-hardness (MH).In this In vitro experimental ...
