Automatic Tag Recommendation for Painting Artworks Using Diachronic Descriptions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
In this paper, we deal with the problem of automatic tag recommendation for painting artworks. Diachronic descriptions containing deviations on the vocabulary used to describe each painting usually occur when the work is done by many experts over time.

From ashes to evidence: A study on the alterations in bloodstain patterns in high heat environments and post‐fire scenes

open access: yesJournal of Forensic Sciences, Volume 70, Issue 2, Page 742-750, March 2025.
Abstract Fire is often used to conceal or destroy evidence of violent crimes, making it essential to understand how fire environments affect forensic evidence, particularly bloodstain patterns. This study investigates the impact of high heat environments and fire on the morphology and analysis of bloodstain patterns.

Polymerisation Degree and Raman Identification of Ancient Glasses used for Jewellery, Ceramics Enamels and Mosaics [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Non Crystalline Solids 323 (2003) 180-187, 2007
We demonstrate the utility of Raman spectroscopy as a technique for the identification of ancient glasses and enamel coatings of ceramics. As for any silicate glasses, the addition of network modifiers breaks the Si-O linkages and modifies the degree of polymerisation and hence the relative intensity of the Si-O bending and stretching modes.

Rewilded horses in European nature conservation – a genetics, ethics, and welfare perspective

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 100, Issue 1, Page 407-427, February 2025.

Vegetable ash as raw material in the production of glasses and enamels, for example the contemporary vegetable ashes from Burgundy, France [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2010
The powdery nature and high alkali content of vegetable ashes make them ideal raw materials to be used as modifiers of silicate compositions (glasses, enamels and ceramics). Their utilisation since ancient times is described in the literature of the history of glasses, but studies on the analyses of their composition are still limited.

Synthetic Periodontal Guided Tissue Regeneration Membrane with Self‐Assembling Biphasic Structure and Temperature‐Sensitive Shape Maintenance

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 3, January 27, 2025.
Periodontal disease challenges oral health by damaging tooth support structures. Newly developed thermosensitive periodontal membranes (TSPM) utilize a blend of poly(L‐lactic acid) and polymerized poly(ε‐caprolactone)diacrylate in a semi‐interpenetrating mesh, enabling improved handling properties and facilitating effective wound healing.

We introduce a new video synthesis task: synthesizing time lapse videos depicting how a given painting might have been created. Artists paint using unique combinations of brushes, strokes, and colors. There are often many possible ways to create a given painting. Our goal is to learn to capture this rich range of possibilities. Creating distributions
