Spatiotemporal variability and functional redundancy obscure effects of urbanization on strawberry pollinators

open access: yesEcosphere, Volume 16, Issue 1, January 2025.
Abstract Pollination services across rural–urban gradients may vary as land cover and other environmental attributes differentially influence pollinators. Most studies examining crop pollination, however, have been conducted in rural environments, while research in urban areas has lagged behind despite growing interest in urban agriculture.

Order-Fractal transition in abstract paintings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We report the degree of order of twenty-two Jackson Pollock's paintings using \emph{Hausdorff-Besicovitch fractal dimension}. Through the maximum value of each multi-fractal spectrum, the artworks are classify by the year in which they were painted. It has been reported that Pollock's paintings are fractal and it increased on his latest works.

In digital painting software, layers organize paintings. However, layers are not explicitly represented, transmitted, or published with the final digital painting. We propose a technique to decompose a digital painting into layers. In our decomposition, each layer represents a coat of paint of a single paint color applied with varying opacity ...
