Using the AMAN-DA method to generate security requirements: a case study in the maritime domain

open access: yes, 2017
[Context and motivation] Security requirements are known to be " the most difficult of requirements types " , and potentially the ones causing the greatest risk if they are not correct.

Weaving Intelligence: Thermally Drawn Multimaterial Fibers Toward AI‐Enabled Smart Textiles

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Thermally drawn multimaterial fibers are rapidly advancing as intelligent structural units for next‐generation smart textiles. Integrating multimaterial architectures with neuromorphic and spiking‐neural‐network principles enables fabrics that can sense, compute, and adapt autonomously.

E. coli Extracellular Matrix: A Tunable Composite With Hierarchical Structure

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The complex composite‐like mechanical behavior of E. coli biofilm matrix is the result of a synergic contribution of the rigid curli and swelling pEtN‐cellulose, and emerges from specific ratio and assembly conditions. The interactions between the two fibers govern biofilm hydration and characteristic wrinkling patterns, providing crucial insights for ...

Sustainable control of Phytophthora capsici in bell pepper using encapsulated Limosilactobacillus fermentum and reduced fungicide doses

open access: yesScientific Reports
Phytophthora capsici causes severe losses in pepper cultivation, and sustainable biocontrol strategies are needed to reduce reliance on chemical fungicides.

Engineering Layered Magnetic Hydrogels for Cell Placement via Shear and Magnetic Field‐Induced Assembly

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic particles are organized into layered architectures by combining shear flow and magnetic fields, with the resulting structures governed by appropriate Mason numbers. The programmed assemblies provide spatial guidance for cell placement, linking field‐controlled self‐assembly, flow‐induced structuring and biological organization.

Knowledge Driven Machine Learning Towards Interpretable Intelligent Prognostics and Health Management: Review and Case Study

open access: yesChinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering
Despite significant progress in the Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) domain using pattern learning systems from data, machine learning (ML) still faces challenges related to limited generalization and weak interpretability. A promising approach to

Mechanism‐Driven Nanoformulations for Cognitive Impairment Induced by Intermittent Hypoxia and Periodontitis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Clinically, intermittent hypoxia (IH) is often accompanied by periodontitis, which accelerates cognitive impairment induced by IH. Novel Janus mesoporous gold‐silica nanoformulations (RVG‐Au&mSiO2‐TPP‐VB) enable intranasal delivery, achieve hierarchical targeting to neuronal mitochondria, effectively scavenge reactive oxygen species, inhibit the HIF‐1α/

Ligand Engineering for Precise Control of Ultrathin CsPbI3 Nanoplatelet Superlattices for Efficient Light‐Emitting Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, we introduce ancillary‐ligand‐mediated growth control of ultrathin CsPbI3 PeNPLs to achieve highly uniform thickness and reduced agglomeration. Strong ancillary‐ligand coordination to the perovskite surface regulates nucleation and improves surface passivation, enabling color‐pure emission and preferentially oriented superlattices.

Visually-guided haptic object recognition

open access: yes, 1987
Sensory capabilities are vital if a robot is to function autonomously in unknown or partially specified environments, if it is to carry out complex, roughly detailed tasks, and if it is to interact with and to learn from the world around it.
