Encoding modality and spatial memory retrieval
Brain and Cognition, 2009This study examined the temporal characteristics of event-related brain electrical activity associated with the processing of spatial memories derived from linguistic and tactile information. Participants learned a map by (1) reading a text description of the map, (2) touching a wooden topological representation of the map (hidden from view), or (3 ...

Convolutionally Encoded Memory Protection
IEEE Transactions on Computers, 1982A memory protection technique is described in which individually code-protected memory cells are supplemented with redundant memory cells derived from the basic cells according to the rules of a short constraint length convolutional code. The technique is found to be far more protective against faults than memory duplication.

Encoding preferences in memory in dementia
British Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1990Encoding preferences in memory were examined in 22 subjects with presumed dementia of the Alzheimer type (DAT), 22 subjects with presumed multi‐infarct dementia (MID), and 19 elderly depressed subjects by means of multiple‐choice recognition testing of memory for word lists where target words appeared in choice arrays amongst semantic, acoustic and ...

Encoding of Memory in the Neuron
Psychological Reports, 1968The specific effect which brain extract from conditioned rats has on the behavior of naive rats into which the extract is injected, suggests that (a) there exists a set of genetically determined neurons whose interconnections are invariant from subject to subject, that (b) each of these neurons has associated with it a unique molecular identification ...

ENCODING OF COLORS IN SHORT-TERM MEMORY
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1990A theory is proposed to explain results from prior experiments on release from proactive inhibition and the recall of colors or color names in short-term memory. It is assumed that colors are encoded in two ways, verbally and perceptually, while color names are encoded only verbally.
