Quantum Emitters in Hexagonal Boron Nitride: Principles, Engineering and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Quantum emitters in hexagonal boron nitride have emerged as a promising candidate for quantum information science. This review examines the fundamentals of these quantum emitters, including their level structures, defect engineering, and their possible chemical structures.

Fast and memory efficient JBIG2 encoder [PDF]

open access: yes2001 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing. Proceedings (Cat. No.01CH37221), 2002
We propose a fast and memory efficient encoding strategy for text image compression with the JBIG2 standard. The encoder splits up the input image into horizontal stripes and encodes one stripe at a time. Construction of the current dictionary is based on updating dictionaries from previous stripes.

Achievement goals affect memory encoding

open access: yesContemporary Educational Psychology, 2021
Abstract The present study examined how achievement goals affect memory encoding (i.e., relational and item-specific processes). To achieve this, we conducted five experiments using valid behavioral measures including adjusted ratio of clustering (ARC) scores and recognition performance and manipulating the instructions for achievement goals. In each

Demonstration of an All‐Optical AND Gate Mediated by Photochromic Molecules

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A logic AND gate that runs on photons is demonstrated. It relies on two spatially separated photochromic molecules that work in tandem. Abstract The realization of a photonic logic AND gate, i.e. a logic AND gate that runs on photons rather than electrons, and where all steps are controlled by light, is demonstrated. In a proof‐of‐principle experiment,

Steep‐Switching Memory FET for Noise‐Resistant Reservoir Computing System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate the steep‐switching memory FET with CuInP2S6/h‐BN/α‐In2Se3 heterostructure for application in noise‐resistant reservoir computing systems. The proposed device achieves steep switching characteristics (SSPGM = 19 mV/dec and SSERS = 23 mV/dec) through stabilization between CuInP2S6 and h‐BN.

Reactivation and consolidation of memory traces during post‐encoding rest across the adult lifespan

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology
Episodic memory is a critical cognitive function that enables the encoding, storage, and retrieval of new information. Memory consolidation, a key stage of episodic memory, stabilizes this newly encoded information into long‐lasting brain “storage ...

Selective and Precise Editing of Digital Polymers Through Parallel or Series Toehold‐Mediated Strand Displacement

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A sequence‐encoded supramolecular construct containing two accessible toeholds is developed herein for enabling multiple editing operations. By introducing specific input strands, it is possible to selectively erase or rewrite digital content through parallel or series toehold‐mediated strand displacement (PTMSD or STMSD).

Frontal Contribution to Hippocampal Hyperactivity During Memory Encoding in Aging

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Neuroscience, 2019
Hippocampal hypo- as well as hyper-activation have been reported during memory encoding in older individuals. Prefrontal cortex (PFC) provides top-down state signals to the hippocampus that bias its computation during memory encoding and retrieval, and ...

Photoswitching Conduction in Framework Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This mini‐review summarizes recent advances in state‐of‐the‐art proton and electron conduction in framework materials that can be remotely and reversibly switched on and off by light. It discusses the various photoswitching conduction mechanisms and the strategies employed to enhance photoswitched conductivity.
