Endotoxemia in End‐Stage Kidney Disease

Seminars in Dialysis, 2014
AbstractChronic unexplained inflammation remains a prevalent and clinically significant problem for patients with end‐stage kidney disease (ESKD), especially in the dialysis population. The causes of persistent inflammation are likely to be multifactorial, but the underlying mechanisms remain to be elucidated.

Clopidogrel Use in End‐Stage Kidney Disease

Seminars in Dialysis, 2014
AbstractClopidogrel irreversibly binds to the P2Y12 platelet receptor and acts as a potent inhibitor of platelet activation and aggregation. It is currently recommended for the prevention of cardiovascular events in patients with acute coronary syndromes, recent ischemic stroke, and peripheral arterial disease.

Cardiorenal Syndrome in End-Stage Kidney Disease

Blood Purification, 2015
Background: Cardiorenal syndrome (CRS) in patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) represents mainly cardiovascular disease (CVD) due to various complications associated with renal dysfunction—defined as type 4 CRS by Ronco et al.—because the effect of cardiac dysfunction on the kidneys does not need to be ...

Kidney Disease: End-Stage Renal Disease.

FP essentials, 2021

Renal Adenocarcinoma and End Stage Kidney Disease

Journal of Urology, 1987
The association of end stage kidney disease with cystic degeneration and renal adenocarcinoma was first recognized in 1977. Since then a number of reports have confirmed this relationship. Duration of dialysis has been the most strongly associated risk factor. We report 8 cases of end stage kidney disease and renal adenocarcinoma.

Palliative care in end‐stage kidney disease

Nephrology, 2010
ABSTRACTPatients with end‐stage kidney disease have significantly increased morbidity and mortality. While greater attention has been focused on advanced care planning, end‐of‐life decisions, conservative therapy and withdrawal from dialysis these must be supported by adequate palliative care incorporating symptom control.

Pathology of end-stage kidney disease

The American Journal of Medicine, 1968
Abstract The various pathologic pictures which make up the end-stage kidney are described. Certain patterns of involvement persist, even in patients with long continued chronic renal failure, that may permit one to make a diagnosis. In some cases, however, it may not be possible to arrive at an accurate diagnosis; this is particularly true of the ...

Lupus Nephritis and End-stage Kidney Disease

The American Journal of the Medical Sciences, 2013
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a multisystem disease affecting many organs. Varying degrees of renal involvement are seen in up to 60% of adults with SLE, and severe lupus nephritis (LN) (World Health Organization class III and above) progresses to end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) within 15 years of diagnosis in 10% to 30% of patients.

Acquired Cystic Disease of the End-Stage Kidney

Journal of Urology, 1985
The development of multiple cysts in the previously noncystic chronically diseased kidneys of patients undergoing long-term dialysis appears to be associated with spontaneous renal bleeding and benign and malignant renal tumors. Two cases of acquired cystic disease with renal hemorrhage and adenocarcinoma are presented; metastases occurred in one ...
