Dietary Protein Intake and Peritoneal Protein Losses in Peritoneal Dialysis Patients
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients lose protein in their waste dialysate, potentially increasing their risk for malnutrition. We wished to determine whether there was any association between losses and dietary protein intake (DPI). Methods DPI was assessed from 24‐h dietary recall using Nutrics software.

Modeling Outcome of Patients on Renal Replacement Therapy [PDF]
The incidence of end-stage renal disease is increasing and therefore, the number of patients requiring renal replacement therapy (RRT), renal dialysis or renal transplantation (RTx), has been rising.

The adipose tissue production of adiponectin is increased in end-stage renal disease. [PDF]
Adiponectin has antidiabetic properties, and patients with obesity, diabetes, and insulin resistance have low plasma adiponectin levels. However, although kidney disease is associated with insulin resistance, adiponectin is elevated in end-stage renal ...

ABSTRACT Introduction Pre‐dilution online hemodiafiltration (Pre‐HDF) is predominantly used in Japan, whereas post‐dilution online HDF (Post‐HDF) is more common in Europe. An asymmetric cellulose triacetate (ATA) membrane may improve biocompatibility.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Glutathione transferase gene polymorphism in end stage renal disease [PDF]
Chronic kidney disease is described as a progressive and irreversible deterioration in kidney function. When there is less than 10% of nephron function pertained, patients face end-stage renal disease, where renal replacement therapy is needed. Data show

Genetics of kidney disease [PDF]
Genetics of kidney disease. Multiple lines of evidence suggest that susceptibility to develop end-stage renal disease (ESRD) has a significant genetic component.

Hypertension in end-stage renal disease [PDF]
Patients with moderate to severe renal disease have a very high incidence of hypertension. In end-stage renal disease (ESRD) this is true regardless of the nature of the underlying renal disease. Nevertheless, patients with glomerular diseases and autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease are particularly vulnerable.
