End-to-End Distance Probability Distributions of Dilute Poly(ethylene oxide) in Aqueous Solution

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2020
We introduce a powerful, widely applicable approach to characterizing polymer conformational distributions, specifically the end-to-end distance distributions, P(Ree), accessed through double electron-electron resonance (DEER) spectroscopy in conjunction with molecular dynamics (MD) simulations.

The Shapes of Random Walks with Fixed End-to-End Distance

1990
Fixed length random walks embedded in d spatial dimensions are discussed. As a representation of polymers, they correspond to long chain molecules whose heads and tails are fixed in space. An exact analytical expression for the asphericity is presented that is valid in arbitrary spatial dimensionality.

Spiral self-avoiding walks on a triangular lattice: end-to-end distance

Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 1985
An exact solution is obtained for the root-mean-square end-to-end distance RN of spiral self-avoiding walks with N steps on a triangular lattice. For N to infinity , RN increases as (2 pi )-1(6N)1/2 log N.

END-TO-END DISTANCE DISTRIBUTION OF FORCE STRETCHED CHAINS RECONSTRUCTION BY MAXIMUM-ENTROPY METHOD

International Journal of Modern Physics B, 2004
Using the maximum-entropy method, the end-to-end distance distribution of the force stretched chain is calculated from the moments of the distribution, which can be obtained from the extension-force curves recorded in single-molecule experiments. If one knows force expansion of the extension through the (n-1)th power of force, it is enough information

Even Moments of the End-to-End Distance of Polymeric Chains

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1968
A method is developed for calculating even moments 〈r2k〉 of the end-to-end distance r of polymeric chains, on the basis of the rotational-isomeric-state approximation for rotations about skeletal bonds. Expressions are obtained in a form which is applicable in principle to arbitrary k, but practical applications are limited by a tremendous increase in ...

The end-to-end distance of RNA as a randomly self-paired polymer

Journal of Theoretical Biology, 2011
In this paper, we present the end-to-end distance of randomly self-paired polymers (RSPPs). We define a randomly self-paired polymer as a linear polymer each of whose monomers has a probability, f ...

Side chain motions and end-to-end distance distribution in α-helical peptides

SPIE Proceedings, 1993
The application of resonance fluorescence energy transfer measurements for the analysis of conformational states of neuropeptide galanin revealed the coexistence of different structures in solution. This method is complementary to other spectroscopic structural methods like 2D NMR.

End-to-end distance of linear polymers in two dimensions: a reassessment

Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 1985
Recent exact enumeration studies of the two-dimensional self-avoiding walk have produced evidence in support of non-analytic scaling corrections. Newly extended series for the triangular and square lattices (to N=19 and 25 respectively) are examined in the light of recent Monte Carlo results suggesting the absence of corrections of this type.
