Harnack Estimate for the Endangered Species Equation [PDF]

open access: yesProc. Amer. Math. Soc., March 31, 2015, 2014
We prove a differential Harnack inequality for the Endangered Species Equation, a nonlinear parabolic equation. Our derivation relies on an idea related to the parabolic maximum principle. As an application of this inequality, we will show that positive solutions to this equation must blowup in finite time.

Updating known distribution models for forecasting climate change impact on endangered species [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
To plan endangered species conservation and to design adequate management programmes, it is necessary to predict their distributional response to climate change, especially under the current situation of rapid change.

Movement behavior of a solitary large carnivore within a hotspot of human-wildlife conflicts in India

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
With a rise in human induced changes to natural habitats, large predators are forced to share space and resources with people to coexist within multiple-use landscapes.

Exploring the Feasibility of Generating Realistic 3D Models of Endangered Species Using DreamGaussian: An Analysis of Elevation Angle's Impact on Model Generation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Many species face the threat of extinction. It's important to study these species and gather information about them as much as possible to preserve biodiversity. Due to the rarity of endangered species, there is a limited amount of data available, making it difficult to apply data requiring generative AI methods to this domain.

Response of riparian vegetation to short‐ and long‐term hydrologic variation

open access: yesEcological Applications, Volume 32, Issue 8, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Increasing demand for river water now conflicts with an increasing desire to maintain riparian ecosystems. Efficiently managing river flows for riparian vegetation requires an understanding of the time scale of flow effects, but this information is limited by the absence of long‐term studies of vegetation change in response to flow variation ...

Distribution models calibrated with independent field data predict two million ancient and veteran trees in England

open access: yesEcological Applications, Volume 32, Issue 8, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Large, citizen‐science species databases are powerful resources for predictive species distribution modeling (SDM), yet they are often subject to sampling bias. Many methods have been proposed to correct for this, but there exists little consensus as to which is most effective, not least because the true value of model predictions is hard to ...

Species delimitation in endangered groundwater salamanders: Implications for aquifer management and biodiversity conservation

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 2019
Significance Groundwater ecosystems deliver services that are vital to human well-being and environmental quality. Overexploitation of groundwater threatens biodiversity and ecosystem stability worldwide, underscoring the need to discover, describe, and ...
