Emergency Coronary Endarterectomy
Diseases of the Chest, 1963SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION Four patients who underwent emergency coronary endarterectomy for acute myocardial infarction are reported. One patient was resuscitated and restored to normal cardiac rhythm for 52 hours. The potential, technique, and indications for this type of procedure in the treatment of coronary heart disease are reviewed.

Extraluminal Carotid Endarterectomy
Archives of Surgery, 1972Twenty-five patients have undergone carotid endarterectomy by extraluminal dissection of the plaque. An incision is made into the media of the common and internal carotid arteries onto, but not through, the plaque to be excised. The plaque can then be dissected from the carotid bifurcation prior to entrance into the lumen of the carotid artery.
