Liver Proteomic Alterations Induced by Chronic Fluoride Exposure in Type 2 Diabetic Mice: An Exploratory Study

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Water fluoridation is recognized as one of the major public health achievements of the 20th century due to its effectiveness in reducing dental caries. Recommended fluoride concentrations in drinking water (0.7–1.5 mgF/L) aim to maximize dental benefits while minimizing adverse effects.

Genetic and Clinical Characteristics of Thalassemia Trait and Construction of LASSO‐Based Model for Its Differentiating From Iron Deficiency Anemia in Northern China

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
This study revealed a β‐thalassemia‐trait‐dominated genetic spectrum in Northern‐Chinese patients with microcytic hypochromic anemia, with _αSEA/αα, HBB:c.316_197C>T and HBB:c.124_127delTTCT being the most prevalent α‐ and β‐globin genotypes. Using LASSO regression, we constructed a nomogram based on four routine complete‐blood‐count parameters (RBC ...

Pollen Morphology of Crucianella L. (Rubiaceae) Based on Light and Scanning Electron Microscope Data and Implications for Taxonomy

open access: yesMicroscopy Research and Technique, EarlyView.
This study provides the palynological analysis of 12 Crucianella L. taxa using LM and SEM. Variations in pollen size, aperture number, and exine ornamentation were identified as key traits, demonstrating their taxonomic value for distinguishing closely related species and subspecies within the genus. ABSTRACT Crucianella L.

Embryonic Development in Two High‐Elevation Oviparous Lizard Species: Contrasting Strategies for Coping With Cold Climates

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part A: Ecological and Integrative Physiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Understanding how species respond to local climates is crucial for predicting their responses to climate change. The cold climate of high elevations constitutes a physiological challenge for reptiles, especially during the embryonic stages of oviparous species, because embryos have limited ability to thermoregulate behaviorally. To examine how

Trends in hospitalizations for vaccine‐preventable diseases in the United States from 2014 to 2024

open access: yesJournal of Hospital Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Objectives Vaccination rates have declined in recent years, resulting in outbreaks of vaccine‐preventable diseases (VPDs) among children. We aimed to evaluate VPD hospitalization rates from 2014 to 2024 and to report associated trends in outcomes including intensive care utilization, mortality, readmissions, and costs.
