Investigating Tuberculosis Dynamics Under Various Control Strategies: A Comprehensive Analysis Using Real Statistical Data

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In the present investigation, a mathematical model with vaccination, treatment, and environmental impact under real data is presented. Initially, we present the model without any interventions, followed by an examination of its equilibrium points.

Repurposing antimicrobial agents for neuroprotection: Mechanisms, clinical potential, and challenges

open access: yesNeuroprotection, EarlyView.
Antimicrobial agents exert neuroprotective effects through modulation of interconnected pathways. Tetracyclines, macrolides, antimalarial agents, sulfones, and antiparasitic agents suppress neuroinflammation, oxidative stress, and apoptosis while preserving mitochondrial function and neurotransmission.

Novelties in Dimerostemma (Asteraceae, Heliantheae) from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Revisiting the Dimerostemma collection in Rio Grande do Sul, the southernmost state of Brazil, one new species of Dimerostemma is described and another is resurrected. Although previously synonymized under Dimerostemma arnottii, Dimerostemma oppositifolium is here resurrected based on its distinct opposite leaves, linear to lanceolate leaf limbs, and ...

Designing for biodiversity data in place: Species, encounters, and interfaces

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Species occurrence data, which records the presence of an organism at a point in space and time, is central to environmental science and its opening up to new forms of participation such as citizen science. Such data are increasingly aggregated and mobilised, reaching diverse audiences.

Emergent media narratives on land conflicts in a global biocultural diversity hotspot

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Land conflicts (LCs) represent major challenges in regions where limited resources are contested by diverse actors. The triple frontier of the bioculturally diverse Alto Paraná Atlantic Forests (APAF) ecoregion concentrates some of the most intense LCs in South America.
