Discoidin domain receptor 1 (DDR1) is a collagen receptor expressed in epithelium. Ddr1 knockout (Ddr1−/−) mice develop periodontitis‐like defects, including junctional epithelium (JE) downgrowth, bacterial invasion, and alveolar bone loss.
