An understanding of the principles involved in the modus operandi and the mechanisms of resistance found in bacteria will enable the clinician to be aware of the problems and developments related to the use of antibiotics. The hazards of using antibiotics in certain aspects of endodontic therapy indicates that their use should be restricted.

This paper reports an unusual example of fusion whereby the tooth had two crowns, one root, and three root canals in the single root. This case shows the importance of recognizing a developmental anomaly and of using readily available radiological techniques in treating the problem.

Use of acid cleanser in endodontic therapy

The Journal of the American Dental Association, 1975
The use of a 50percent citric acid cleanser in root canals after pulpectomy produced well-cleaned surfaces as shown by scanning electron microscopy. Compared with other cleaning agents, this cleanser provided improved penetration of rosin into the dentinal tubules and better wall adaptation of gutta-percha.

In emergency situations relief of a patient’s discomfort, caused by a diseased pulp, may be obtained with use of a deep pulpotomy procedure. A 23-year-old woman was seen late at night because of pain in the region of the right mandibular first molar. A diagnosis of irreversible pulpitis was made.
