Bibliometric indicators of endodontics in Cuban medical journals

open access: yesRevista Cubana de Estomatología, 2015
Introduction: scientific communication materializes through the publication of papers in specialized journals. This is the reason why the quantitative study of journals, known as bibliometry, is a method allowing to evaluate scientific development ...

Evaluation of the performance of large language models in clinical decision-making in endodontics

open access: yesBMC Oral Health
Background Artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots are excellent at generating language. The growing use of generative AI large language models (LLMs) in healthcare and dentistry, including endodontics, raises questions about their accuracy.

In Vitro Evaluation of Novel Calcium Silicate‐Based and Resin‐Modified Calcium Silicate Materials: Cytocompatibility and Mineralization Potential on Human Dental Pulp Stem Cells for Pulp Repair

open access: yesMicroscopy Research and Technique, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that Biodentine XP exhibits superior cytocompatibility, promotes odontogenic differentiation, and enhances mineralization in human dental pulp stem cells, supporting its use in regenerative endodontics. Resin‐modified materials showed lower bioactivity, highlighting the importance of material composition in pulp therapy outcomes.

Surgical endodontics [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Dental Journal, 2005
Root canal treatment usually fails because infection remains within the root canal. An orthograde attempt at re-treatment should always be considered first. However, when surgery is indicated, modern microtechniques coupled with surgical magnification will lead to a better prognosis.

Endodontic bioceramics: current and futurity aspects

open access: yesFrontiers in Oral Health
Excellent bioactivity and biocompatibility make bioceramics a popular choice in dentistry, especially in endodontics. The most commonly utilised bioceramic in endodontics is mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA).

Cost‐effectiveness and long‐term outcomes of periodontal regeneration versus dental implants: A retrospective study

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Direct comparative data on periodontal regeneration (PR) versus extraction and implant placement remain limited. Tooth‐specific periodontal conditions such as furcation involvement and overall tooth prognosis may dictate success or failure of such treatment.

Comparative efficacy of novel bioactive glass versus sodium fluoride toothpaste for dentin hypersensitivity

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background This first‐in‐human clinical study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of a bioglass incorporated in a toothpaste, in reducing dentin hypersensitivity (DH) compared to a sodium fluoride (NaF) toothpaste over a 2‐week period. Methods A double‐blind, randomized, parallel‐arm, proof‐of‐concept clinical trial was conducted with 46

A retrospective cohort study comparing periodontal regeneration using fibroblast growth factor‐2 versus autologous bone graft

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Fibroblast growth factor‐2 (FGF‐2) is a novel agent utilized in periodontal regeneration therapy. However, its clinical efficacy compared with autologous bone graft (ABG), a long‐established treatment, remains unclear. This study aimed to compare the clinical outcomes of FGF‐2 and ABG and to assess the impact of patient background ...

Diagnostic accuracy of transmucosal probe visualization for peri‐implant mucosal phenotype assessment: A cross‐sectional study

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background This study evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of visual assessment of mucosal transparency using a standard periodontal probe (VAT) to differentiate between thin and thick peri‐implant mucosal phenotypes, compared to horizontal transmucosal probing (HTP).
