Endolymphatic hydrops and otitis media

The Laryngoscope, 1979
AbstractClinical observation of patients with fluctuant sensorineural hearing loss following or occurring with chronic otitis media led to the hypothesis that endolymphatic hydrops can result from chronic otitis media. Illustrative case reports are described.

Pathophysiology of endolymphatic hydrops

Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, 1976
Endolymphatic hydrops of the nonprogressive type occurs in response to a single traumatic or toxic insult of limited duration and although it may result in permanent deficits in sensorineural function, there is total subsidence of vestibular symptoms.

Cryosurgical treatment of endolymphatic hydrops

The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 1989
AbstractCryosurgery of the labyrinth, as a treatment of endolymphatic hydrops, was initially greeted with considerable enthusiasm, but has latterly received little publicity. That it still has a valuable role is demonstrated by this study of 69 patients who underwent labyrinthine cryosurgery over a 16 year period.

Pathogenesis of Experimental Endolymphatic Hydrops

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1983
The protein content and the d.c. potential of the endolymph differs in the various parts of the endolymphatic space (cochlea, utricle, semicircular canals and endolymphatic sac) as also does the ion composition (chloride, potassium, sodium). 12 months after obliteration of the endolymphatic sac and duct in guinea pigs the d.c. potential falls, whereas,

The Correlation Between Endolymphatic Hydrops and Clinical Features of Meniere Disease

The Laryngoscope, 2020
The purpose of this study was to investigate the grades of endolymphatic hydrops determined by gadolinium‐contrast magnetic resonance (MR) and correlation to the clinical features in patients with Meniere disease.

Endolymphatic hydrops precipitated by haemodialysis

The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 1990
AbstractWe report a case of endolymphatic hydrops preceded by haemodialysis in the contralateral ear of a patient with known Menière's disease, and discuss the possible mechanism. It is suggested that the sudden decrease of plasma osmolality during haemodialysis acts as a reverse glycerol test.

Comparison between high-resolution 3D-IR with real reconstruction and 3D-flair sequences in the assessment of endolymphatic hydrops in 3 tesla

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 2020
Background The main sequences used to assess degree of endolymphatic hydrops (EH) are the 3D- inversion-recovery (IR) with real reconstruction and the 3D- fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR).

Endolymphatic Pressure in Experimental Hydrops

Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1987
Perilymphatic and endolymphatic pressures were consecutively measured by means of a servomechanical nulling pressure system through the round window and basilar membrane one to 2.5 months after obliteration of the left endolymphatic sac and duct in seven guinea pigs.

The Correlation Between Endolymphatic Hydrops and blood-labyrinth barrier Permeability of Meniere Disease

Annals of Otology, Rhinology and Laryngology, 2020
Objectives: This study was designed to assess the correlation between the grades of endolymphatic hydrops and the blood-labyrinth barrier permeability in the affected ear in Meniere’s disease, following the administration of intravenous gadolinium ...
