Endometrial stromal tumors: Diagnostic updates and challenges
Seminars in Diagnostic Pathology, 2022Endometrial stromal tumors are rare uterine mesenchymal tumors of endometrial stromal origin. They are classified into endometrial stromal nodule, low-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma, high-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma, and undifferentiated uterine sarcoma by the current (2020) WHO classification.

Endometrial Stromal Tumor in a Chimpanzee
Veterinary Pathology, 1975A 25-year-old female chimpanzee with disseminated tuberculosis also had two uterine tumors. One was a typical leiomyoma and the other, which occluded the uterine lumen, was composed of cells resembling normal endometrial stroma in its proliferative phase. It was diagnosed as an endometrial stromal tumor and was similar to that which occurs in the human

Treatment of endometrial stromal tumors
International Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics, 1990We reviewed 31 cases of endometrial stromal tumors treated on the Gynecology Service at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center from 1970 to 1984. Twenty-two patients had endolymphatic stromal myosis and 9 patients had endometrial stromal sarcoma. Twenty-six patients initially had disease confined to the uterus.

Advances in Anatomic Pathology, 2014
Endometrial stromal tumors are rare uterine mesenchymal neoplasms that have intrigued pathologists for years, not only because they commonly pose diagnostic dilemmas, but also because the classification and pathogenesis of these tumors has been widely debated.

Endometrial Stromal Tumors: An Update on a Group of Tumors with a Protean Phenotype
Advances in Anatomic Pathology, 2000Endometrial stromal tumors are reviewed with emphasis on their wide morphologic spectrum and problems in differential diagnosis, highlighting issues that have received particular attention in the recent literature. These neoplasms are divided into two major categories--endometrial stromal nodules and endometrial stromal sarcomas--a distinction made on ...

Endometrial Stromal Nodules and Endometrial Stromal Tumors With Limited Infiltration
The American Journal of Surgical Pathology, 2002Experience with endometrial stromal nodules (ESNs) is limited, and no series has been published since the frequent misdiagnosis of highly cellular leiomyomas as ESNs was highlighted. Additionally, although the entirely well-circumscribed margin of most ESNs readily allows a separation from endometrial stromal sarcomas with their typical permeative ...
