INVESTMENT ANALYSIS OF REPLACING ENDOPHYTE-INFECTED WITH ENDOPHYTE-FREE TALL FESCUE PASTURES [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Cattle consuming tall fescue pastures infected with the endophyte Neotyphodium coenophialum often suffer physiological disorders that reduce animal performance.

Root Endophyte Colletotrichum tofieldiae Confers Plant Fitness Benefits that Are Phosphate Status Dependent

open access: yesCell, 2016
Summary A staggering diversity of endophytic fungi associate with healthy plants in nature, but it is usually unclear whether these represent stochastic encounters or provide host fitness benefits.

Herbivory mediates grass-endophyte relationships

open access: yes, 2007
Endophytic fungi are plant symbionts living asymptomatically within plant tissues. Neotyphodium spp., which are asexual vertically transmitted systemic fungal endophytes of cool-season grasses, are predicted to be plant mutualists.

Effect of endophyte infection on chlorophyll a fluorescence in salinity stressed rice

open access: yes, 2014
We have earlier reported that the endophyte infection can enhance photosynthetic capacity and antioxidant enzyme activities in rice exposed to salinity stress.

Standardized Protocol for Isolation and Cryopreservation of Cultivable Endophytes From Fresh and Dried Citrus aurantium Peels

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
A protocol for converting Citrus aurantium peel—from both fresh fruit and dried Zhike—into a curated endophytic microbial library through standardized surface sterilization, tissue homogenization, and multi‐medium culturing, followed by 16S/ITS‐based identification and −80°C cryopreservation, enabling reproducible exploration of citrus peel microbiota ...

The effect of Epichloë endophyte on phyllosphere microbes and leaf metabolites in Achnatherum inebrians

open access: yesiScience, 2022
Summary: Upon exposure to the prevailing environment, leaves become increasingly colonized by fungi and bacteria located on the surface (epiphytic) or within (endophytic) the leaves.

Antifungal Activity of Beauveria bassiana Endophyte against Botrytis cinerea in Two Solanaceae Crops

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2019
Botrytis cinerea causes substantial losses in tomato and chili pepper crops worldwide. Endophytes have shown the potential for the biological control of diseases.

Climate change effects on biomass and greenhouse gas emissions are ameliorated by nontoxic endophytes in southeastern USA transition zone tall fescue pastures

open access: yesGrassland Research, EarlyView.
Tall fescue produces more biomass and less carbon dioxide from the soil when it contains its beneficial fungal endophyte. Increased temperatures projected with climate change reduce fescue biomass, while altered rainfall frequency does not. Altering rainfall frequency and increasing temperatures can reduce carbon dioxide emissions from soil.

Influence of Tall Fescue Epichloë Endophytes on Rhizosphere Soil Microbiome

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2021
Tall fescue (Lolium arundinaceum (Schreb.) S.J. Darbyshire) often forms a symbiotic relationship with fungal endophytes (Epichloë coenophiala), which provides increased plant performance and greater tolerance to environmental stress compared to endophyte-
