Endophytic fungi: Unravelling plant-endophyte interaction and the multifaceted role of fungal endophytes in stress amelioration

Plant Physiology and Biochemistry
Endophytic fungi colonize interior plant tissue and mostly form mutualistic associations with their host plant. Plant-endophyte interaction is a complex mechanism and is currently a focus of research to understand the underlying mechanism of endophyte asymptomatic colonization, the process of evading plant immune response, modulation of gene expression,

Contrasting Toxic‐Endophyte Contamination between Endophyte‐Free and Nontoxic‐Endophyte Tall Fescue Pastures

Crop Science, 2005
The fungal endophyte Neotyphodium coenophialum Morgan‐Jones and Gams is abundant in tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea Schreb.) and one strategy to alleviate detrimental effects on livestock is to plant endophyte‐free cultivars; however, these pastures frequently become recontaminated by toxic‐endophyte tall fescue.

An Overview of Endophytic Microbes: Endophytism Defined

2000
To microbes, land plants present a complex, spatially and temporally diverse ecological habitat. Symbiotic associations between microorganisms and plants are ancient and fundamental, and many examples of complex and highly specific symbioses between plants and microbes have been described in detail.

Endophytism in Cupressoideae (Coniferae): A Model in Endophyte Biology and Biotechnology

2017
Plants live in a close association with microorganisms in below ground soil and above ground air. Versatile endophytic communities of microorganisms often shape symbiotic relationships with host plants, enter the foliar and root tissues, and promote host’s health.
