Chemotherapy‐Induced Neuropathy Affecting the Gastrointestinal Tract

open access: yesNeurogastroenterology &Motility, EarlyView.
Chemotherapy (with/without immunotherapy/radiotherapy) may induce neurotoxic effects on the gastrointestinal innervation. Chemotherapy‐induced enteric neuropathy (CIEN) and, probably, neurotoxicity affecting the extrinsic innervation of the gut and the brain underlie the frequent and impactful gut dysfunctions and brain–gut axis (BGA) disorders ...

Use of Human In Vitro Gut Specimens for Translational Neurogastroenterology and Motility in the 21st Century

open access: yesNeurogastroenterology &Motility, EarlyView.
In vitro studies with GI surgical specimens or biopsy are a critical step in translating preclinical studies in animals to humans before testing potential therapeutic interventions in expensive clinical trials. Routine availability of human gut specimens, in combination with technological advances and powerful new in vitro models of the human ENS from ...

Feasibility of a Modified Bronchoscopic Transparenchymal Nodule Access Technique (‘Essen Tunnel’) for Improving the Diagnosis of Intraparenchymal Pulmonary Lesions

open access: yesRespirology, EarlyView.
The modified bronchoscopic transparenchymal nodule access technique, referred to as the ‘Essen Tunnel’, has demonstrated feasibility and significantly enhances endosonographic lesion detection, thereby improving diagnostic accuracy for challenging intraparenchymal lesions.

Human and Deep Learning Predictions of Peripheral Lung Cancer Using a 1.3 mm Video Endoscopic Probe

open access: yesRespirology, EarlyView.
Direct endoscopic visualisation of peripheral pulmonary nodule smaller than 2 cm is feasible using a miniaturised video endoscopy probe, and this endoscopic imaging of these peripheral lung lesions can predict malignancy with high accuracy, both by human eyes and a deep learning generated prediction model.

Reirradiation: Standards, challenges, and patient‐focused strategies across tumor types

open access: yesCA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians, EarlyView.
Abstract Reirradiation (reRT), defined as administering a course of radiation therapy to a specific area previously irradiated, is an evolving treatment strategy for locoregionally recurrent cancer that offers significant potential and poses inherent challenges.

Urothelial carcinoma: Perioperative considerations from top to bottom

open access: yesCA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians, EarlyView.
Abstract Urothelial carcinoma is an aggressive entity that is associated with significant morbidity, but there have been major advances in both our understanding of and treatment options for patients with this disease. In this review, the authors focus on novel therapeutic and diagnostic approaches in the perioperative setting, with an emphasis on ...
