Learning endoscopic resection in the esophagus

Endoscopy, 2015
Endoscopic resection is the cornerstone of endoscopic management of esophageal early neoplasia. However, endoscopic resection is a complex technique requiring knowledge and expertise. Our aims were to identify the most important learning points in performing endoscopic resection in a training setting and to provide information on how to improve ...

Endoscopic resection of nasal haemangiopericytoma

European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, 2003
Haemangiopericytomas are vascular tumours derived from Zimmerman's pericytes; they account for about 1% of all vascular tumours. About 5% of the cases occur in the nasal cavity and usually show well-differentiated tumours with low potential for local recurrence or metastasis. The treatment of choice is surgical resection.

Underwater Endoscopic Mucosal Resection

Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Clinics of North America, 2019
Although an established standard, conventional endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) has disseminated despite an absence of studies demonstrating the value of submucosal injection. Several consequences of poorly executed submucosal injection may increase the difficulty and risk of EMR.

Endoscopic Mucosal Resection

The Chinese-German Journal of Clinical Oncology, 2004
Endoscopic mucosal resection is indicated in limited esophageal carcinomas with infiltration of the mucosa. As submucosal cancer is combined with a rate of lymph node metastasis in up to 30% mucosectomy is not the procedure of choice. The main techniques of endoscopic mucosal resection are the “suck and cut” technique using a cap on the endoscope or a ...

Comparison of Underwater vs Conventional Endoscopic Mucosal Resection of Intermediate-Size Colorectal Polyps.

Gastroenterology, 2019
BACKGROUND & AIMS Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) with submucosal injection is an established method for removing colorectal polyps, although the en bloc resection rate decreases when polyp size exceeds 10 mm.

Endoscopic Mucosal Resection

2021
An injection-based endoscopic submucosal resection (EMR) was first studied in 1955 using in-vitro models in the human sigmoid colon. It was demonstrated that injecting saline to create a submucosal wheal had a protective effect from the complications of thermal cautery.

Endoscopic Mucosal Resection

Operative Techniques in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 2020
Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) is an effective diagnostic and potentially therapeutic treatment of dysplastic Barrett's esophagus and early intramucosal esophageal carcinoma. Appropriate patient selection for therapeutic resection can follow a diagnostic endoscopic resection, and liberal use of EMR is encouraged to gain insight into the metastatic ...
