Endoscopic ultrasonography‐guided drainage of pancreatic fluid collections

open access: yesDigestive Endoscopy, 2017
Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)‐guided drainage is now firmly established as the best option for drainage of walled‐off pancreatic fluid collections (PFC).

Multiple Sampling Capsule Robot for Studying Gut Microbiome

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A multiple sampling capsule robot (MSCR) is developed for longitudinal gut microbiome analysis. Employing electromagnetic field control, the MSCR can locomote actively, precisely align the selected channel, and collect up to six microbiome samples with minimal cross‐contamination.

Obliterative portal venopathy: A neglected and probably misdiagnosed disease with peculiar etiology in South America

open access: yesJGH Open, Volume 6, Issue 12, Page 904-909, December 2022., 2022
Classically described in the group of non‐cirrhotic portal hypertension, obliterative portal venopathy (OPV) causes are still unknown. Our aim is to describe the characteristics of 43 OPV patients and potential risk factors. Clinically significant portal hypertension was found in 28% of cases. The most frequent indication for liver biopsy was elevation

A CT-guided Control Framework of a Robotic Flexible Endoscope for the Diagnosis of the Maxillary Sinusitis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Flexible endoscopes are commonly adopted in narrow and confined anatomical cavities due to their higher reachability and dexterity. However, prolonged and unintuitive manipulation of these endoscopes leads to an increased workload on surgeons and risks of collision.

Therapeutic Decision-Making Using Endoscopic Ultrasonography in Endoscopic Treatment of Early Gastric Cancer

open access: yesGut and Liver, 2016
Background/Aims We evaluated the effectiveness of an endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS)-based treatment plan compared to an endoscopy-based treatment plan in selecting candidates with early gastric cancer (EGC) for endoscopic submucosal dissection based on

Common bile duct stone‐related parameters and their potential prognostic values for stone extraction requiring endoscopic papillary large balloon dilation

open access: yesJGH Open, Volume 7, Issue 1, Page 16-23, January 2023., 2023
Endoscopic CBD stone removal is more difficult with stones larger than 2 mm than with distal CBD diameter or round or square‐shaped stones. Therefore, endoscopic large papillary balloon dilatation (ELPBD) is probably more required for stones larger than 2 mm than for distal CBD; likewise, round or square‐shaped stones are likely more required for ELPBD

BrightVAE: Luminosity Enhancement in Underexposed Endoscopic Images [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The enhancement of image luminosity is especially critical in endoscopic images. Underexposed endoscopic images often suffer from reduced contrast and uneven brightness, significantly impacting diagnostic accuracy and treatment planning. Internal body imaging is challenging due to uneven lighting and shadowy regions.

Magnetic Fluid‐Driven Vine Robots for Minimally Invasive Tissue Biopsy Sampling

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study introduces a magnetic fluid‐powered vine robot for minimally invasive biopsies. The robot uses fluid pressurization for locomotion and external magnetic fields for precise steering. Its soft structure and high magnetic volume ensure controlled movements and stabilization, enabling effective tissue penetration.

Endoscopic enucleation and clinicopathologic correlation of a small choroidal melanoma hiding massive extrascleral extension

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Ophthalmology Case Reports, 2023
Purpose: To report the unusual case of a previously stable choroidal nevus, closely followed for over 15 years, which underwent malignant transformation into small choroidal melanoma with massive extrascleral extension.
